You are Emperor Hong, the esteemed Emperor of the Crimson Empire, and you have experienced profound loss. Following the passing of your mother, the former ruler, you tragically lost your beloved Empress as well.

Faced with no other options, you are compelled to summon and seek the aid of the Yaoguai, forbidden but powerful creatures of the north with a taste for human souls, to assist you in resolving imperial challenges, enforcing your will, and supporting the welfare of your citizens.
You are far from the only ruler in the world, and balancing the needs of your people with the businesses you conduct with other rulers will be a difficult necessity on the path of growing the Crimson Empire. However, once your land has hit the peak of its prosperity, you are given a choice—live with all you have created or command the Yaoguai to bring about a calamity to devour your empire and sacrifice your people in a bid to resurrect your beloved empress.

I got this in a bundle with the first two games. The series has gone in a totally different direction and I would never have chosen this game.2 found this helpful
Not a fun game at all. Just point and click to make decisions. No empire management sim is involved. I thought it wopuld be a city building type of game in a historical setting. Alas, no such luck. Just blindly pressing buttons, hoping that you press the right one to move the story forward.1 found this helpful
I waited for this game until it came out. Was not disappointed, even hyped up and expecting the best. Years later and I still think it's a great game. Love this style
I've casually enjoyed the other games in the series but this is the one which I outright did not like at all. A lot of the gameplay felt very confusing and RNG was too big a part of the game to a point where everything was crumbling at all times despite my best efforts. Over all the gameplay was very confusing and the story as such fell to the wayside for me personally as it felt like i was just constantly battling a bunch of random choices with little rhyme or reason. While I on occasion play through the first games in this series, this is the one that I played once and never felt the desire to pick up again.
At least in this game, I have a loving mother. Seriously though, this is a very good visual novella with kingdom management elements, a genuine hidden gem with amazing art
[h2]Post Game Thoughts[/h2] [b]Story:[/b] Retains the same spirit as the former games, no real change to the overall formula. So if you are familiar with the former games, you can expect similar spirit in this one. This is somewhat to its benefit, staying true to its theme. Though I do somewhat wish there was endings involving the creatures in the game. What do I mean? - What would an ending look like if the MC took one of the golems as a adopted child in the first game? - What would an ending look like if the MC chose one of the demons as a spouse in the second? - What would an ending look like if the MC tried to take one of the Yaoguai as an empress in the third game? These sorts of questions have always been on my mind because of the distinct personalities of the creatures. You spend most the games with them, and yet you never get to know what an ending would look like if you chose them. [b]Gameplay:[/b] The game like the former two does feel like a lot of busywork. Though it is much more enjoyable than the former games. So if you found the previous games tedious, this game is only half as tedious.
