About Naval Action
Engage in historically authentic Age of Sail naval combat where you command period-accurate sailing ships in large-scale PvP battles across the recreated West Indies, with realistic wind physics and a damage model that tracks every cannonball. Master tactical sailing, upgrade your fleet, and dominate through skill and knowledge rather than exploits—the game is built from the ground up to be completely hack-proof with all calculations server-side.
Now it is YOUR turn to sail the seas of the Age of Sail.
But it would be wise to approach the subject cautiously: practice, improve your skill and your ship and connections with allies. Then you can commandeer best vessels: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear lamentations of their women in global chat. .......................................................................................................................................................
Naval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.
Age of sail combat is a personal affair with no dirty tricks, corner camping, or hiding in bushes: you see the enemy from 20km and so do they. Just like in boxing you have to get close; and use all your tactical knowledge of wind, your ship to slug it out face to face. Broadside weight matters, but even a smaller vessel can overcome the superior enemy by focusing on the enemy weak spots.
No game has come closer to the replication of the Age of Sail sailing mechanics and combat. Thats why Naval action was named one best releases from early access in 2019 by Valve!
Here is what you can expect:
Beautiful ships – We have been painstakingly recreating the beautiful ships of the Age of sail period. Accurate hull models, sail plans, guns, internal upgrades, historical speed trials were used in the creation of vessels. The game features 50+ ships from small cutters to large 100+ gun 1st rates allowing the player to experience every possible role of that era.Features
Realistic sailing – Advanced wind and physics model provides for realistic portrayal of ship’s performance in the age of sail. Yard angles, ship angle to wind, fittings and ship condition affects speeds and turning rates. Correct tacking, boxhauling, clubhauling and other elements of realistic sailing will help you win battles in most adverse conditions.Conquest and PVP Activities Fight for the domination of the West Indies, recreated based on 18th Century maps and navigational charts. Build ships, trade, attack enemies of your nation almost everywhere and capture their ships and Open trading outposts in the ports governed by your clan.
Damage model – Every cannonball is tracked in the air and after it hits the target. Leaks, structural damage, torn sails, demasting, raking, fires, explosions and all other hazards that were possible in that era. Damage is positional: hit the gun and you might destroy it. Gunnery crews are placed deck by deck. Shot can pass through the balcony, ricochet of the gun, hit a crew member and then fly out of the gunport splashing into the water. Armor thickness and wood types affect strength of the hull and cannonballs will ricochet from the hulls at extreme angles.
Built for PVP: Absolutely no hackers.
Hacking is a killer of fun in PVP games. From the start we have built the tech around one main goal - complete elimination of hacking from PVP. Naval Action is one of the few games where hacking is made impossible by design. Every battle action is calculated on the servers, even water and wave shapes. Yes - you have heard it right: there is a special server that calculates and replicates waves to all users in battle. When fighting in Naval action you can be sure you are only facing skills and ship fittings.
Gunnery and weapons – Major types of naval artillery are implemented: from long guns to mortars to carronades and obusiers. Fort and land batteries will provide you with support during battles near shores. Mortar vessels can destroy fortifications, though they may require an escort. Each gun has realistic ballistics and penetration performance based on historical gun charts and admiralty tests. Heel and wind affect the shooting distance and will require a change in tactics.

Do not buy this game anymore, the devs dont listen and care for for the community AT ALL! It was amazing when it launched, now its a hot mess waiting to die. Sad.2 found this helpful
The $1,000 "Roleplay" Experience: Be the Pirate, Or Be the Victim? If you think Star Citizen is a scam, I have a bridge in the Caribbean to sell you; and it’ll probably cost you another $50 DLC to cross it. I’ve been around since 2016, and in that decade of "development," this game has managed to achieve the impossible: it has perfectly preserved the exact same level of jank it had ten years ago. It’s like a digital museum of unfulfilled potential, only the exhibits are just empty, overpriced hulls floating in a void of ~200 concurrent players. I previously compared this to Broken Arrow, but that was an insult to Broken Arrow. At least their devs are trying to fix their mess. These developers? They’ve evolved past "game design" and moved straight into "financial extraction." They’ve watched their player count crater from 2,500 to a lonely 200, and their solution isn't to fix the game; it’s to drop another $70 AUD DLC ship. They are the only pirates in this game you can’t actually fight back against. If you have a few hundred (or thousand) dollars to burn and you’re looking to immerse yourself in period-accurate ships with a 0% Return on Investment, look no further! I really want to love this game. The combat is great, the ship models are amazing and the idea of a PvP Server with clans controlling the West Indies is exciting. There is however one major issue - how easy is it to see some NAVAL ACTION. I have played in spurts over the years and it has always been a grind heavy game. Last year they made balls and gunpowder consumables... No longer can you sail into battle at a whim (after buying cannon ofc). Enjoy sailing from port to port to a) get some money in order to get resources to go into battle and b) find out that you cannot find balls/gunpowder on sale in the port you are in (and thus need to sail to another or craft some yourself - goodbye a few more hours). Once you have spent a few hours mindlessly sailing up and down a dead server you will then find out that you have spent so much ammo in a single battle you must go grind again for resources or go to port to restock, god forbid you are a new player and lose your ship! Following the discord NA has made debatable decisions, but to effectively remove the ability to enjoy the most exciting parts of the game (the battles) with ease is the worst decision I have ever seen. After a few ho…1 found this helpful
i don't know how to get bigger ships but that was not good for me.
this is the first time ive had a game that all my friends played. then watched as the developers made the game the worst thing we have ever endured. i bought dlc back when the game was fun, i regret that dearly now. this is the only time i will ever say this. but if they reverted this games updates be a few years, then we would play it again.
If you actually dive into what those reviews are complaining about, you'll quickly realize they aren't reviewing the game you can play today. They are reviewing years of developer drama, broken promises, and the lingering trauma of the past. If this game released today with a completely clean slate, it wouldn't be sitting in the review gutter, it would easily be praised as a solidly "mid-good" simulator that delivers something no other game on the market can match.
