Nemesis of the Roman Empire

Oh this game? You mean one of my all time favorites from childhood? You mean one of the best rts ever that still holds up and desperately deserves a remaster? Yeah I guess you could say I enjoy it.

if you like AOE its kinda in the same lane as that. its much faster pace imo. the campaign is really neat to. def worth $10. i have bought this game a few times since it came out in 2003.

It's a coinflip on whether to select yes or no for recommending this game, because I both can, yet can't, recommend it. Like many older CD games, this was lazily imported to steam doing less than the bare minimum. The game wasn't designed for more modern monitors or operating systems, and was not updated with the support needed. It is exactly the same game as the original, but with the same glitches all other lazy CD ports have when played on more modern hardware and software. There's no way to have any form of windowed mode, none of the normal tricks work at all, and it takes third party software to have it. The cutscenes just have a black screen for the visuals because they aren't supported. However, if you can use DXWnd or similar, if you can deal with the video glitches, it is exactly the same game as the CD game, including all of the difficulties in the campaigns. Every campaign, even on easy, is quite hard, so good luck beating them on hard. Each is both a sprint to not get overwhelmed and then also a marathon to actually achieve victory, but that does give hours of gameplay, regardless of whether those hours will show in steam.

Great game for its age, timeless really. Relatively simple but can give a good challenge. Multiplayer is always a blast.
