Story

While the Goddesses were out responding to a distress call from the faraway PC Continent, Nepgear and the other Candidates were dispatched to an abandoned research facility in order to investigate a monster outbreak.

It was there that they encountered the Ashen Goddess, who trapped them in a capsule and placed them in a deep sleep. By the time they awoke, they were astonished to discover that 2 years had passed.

After they emerge from slumber, they learn that Neptune has been missing since her mission to the PC Continent 2 years ago, and in the absence of its Goddess and Candidate, Planeptune was ravaged by a series of strange outbreaks, collectively referred to as the Trendi Phenomenon.

Suddenly finding herself robbed of home and family, Nepgear is met with the greatest challenge she's ever faced.

This is a story about finding hope in the midst of despair, and the rebirth of a Goddess in the wake of destruction.

Genuinely felt compelled to write a review over how much of a mixed state this game has left me in. The Good + Always good to spend time with this cast of characters, the usual hijinks and goofy-ness don't disappoint + The story legit took me by surprise at how good(??) it was, may have shed a tear at the final CG on the true ending + Nepgear again proving herself to be a more capable and likeable protag than her sister could ever hope to be + Shangahi Alice and Higurashi both top-tier character designs and fun movesets that reflect their respective roots Unfortunately that's where the good runs dry cause oh boy buckle up... The Bad - Except some endgame levels almost every dungeon is more or less the same 3/4 areas copy-pasted - Walking around Planeptune seemed cool at first but the place is unnecessarily large, it just feels empty and soulless - Checkpoints in levels are really inconsistent, sometimes they will be right next to one-another - The new combat system they tried is horribly slow, clunky and grating, hit detection seems really whack - Items and status skills aplenty but most fights are over so quick you'll never find any use for them - Very limited pool of enemies i…

Great game overall, would recommend highly over the other games, ON GAMEPLAY ONLY. story mode is eh, neptunia rebirth's had significantly better stories, and honestly i think the turn based combat on neptunia specifically is actually pretty enjoyable, i just prefer this open movement combat system more. However, if you are just buying it for that, buy neptunia Game maker instead. Game maker is essentially the same game and combat system, except more...crisp or dialed in movement. This game can be a bit scuffed, often times your attacks, specifically uni;s laser simply phasing through enemies entirely and not having hit detection. Its not exactly that common, but its not uncommon either. Story is kinda annoying, centered around Vtubers and social media, so definitely dont buy if you want the best story for a neptunia game, again, if thats what youre after go play the rebirth games.

Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters is an Action RPG by Compile Heart. As someone who likes action RPGs and was a fan of Neptunia in the past, I‘ve returned to the franchise by playing some of the newer games that were released. This game does pretty much everything I‘ve wanted out of a Neptunia title, and I wouldn‘t have fallen off of the franchise if games like this one came out more frequently.
Story
Nepgear and friends are put into a coma by a mysterious girl. This coma lasts for two long years, in which Gamindustri changed dramatically. All the nations are on lockdown due to a threat of monsters, Planeptune has been completely overtaken by them, and the PC Continent has disappeared entirely, with many people having lost their lives. Nepgear wakes up and is immediately distraught about having lost Neptune, who supposedly died while protecting the PC Continent. Unsure about what to do next and experiencing depression, Nepgear meets a new and sweet friend called Maho, as well as Anri, a quiet girl who‘se parents were murdered. Thanks to Maho, Nepgear manages to find new resolve and the strength to free Gamindustri from the Trendi Outbreak, but Maho also bears many terrible secre…

Holy Nep, the story is absolute cinema! I'd even say it's the best mainline universe Neptunia story right now. Some say it's too dark and serious, but I think it keeps good balance between humor and drama, and you really can feel the high stakes (Unlike in V and VII, imo), because you actually see and being immersed in what happens if you'll lose. Also Nepgear is the main character and the other Candidates are on main roles too, that's 10/10 for me, it's like a spiritual successor to Mk2, which is my favourite game in the series. New characters are also charming and I immediately fell in love with them! Also I really glad that devs returned filler side-scenes, which were practically absent in VII, they really do help a lot to develop the characters and make the player become attached to them. Though I think they went too far with references on various recent events, I mean of course there should be references on game industry in Neptunia, but they literally made like half of these scenes just about in-your-face references, hardly even joking about them... That felt like the devs wanted to catch-up with all what happened in real life between the releases of VII and SvS. But I like h…
