Nevermore: The Chamber Door

The game itself is less than 2 hours long so I'll try to spend a proportional amount of time for a review here: [list] [*] entire game is basically a walking simulator + forced grind to boost stats for the final boss - no shortcuts / improvements for progress so if you die you walk through the WHOLE (short) game again [*] game seems built to avoid refunding - levels are intentionally big and mostly empty and you're forced to grind stats just for the final boss (although you can also just stand still and spam attack it and never take any damage) [*] some annoying bugs (e.g. losing all your stat upgrades if you quit the game) show that this wasn't tested much (if at all) [/list] Might be worth picking up depending on your taste if it's on sale for under $1 but otherwise there's plenty of better things to spend your money on for less.

it was alright its not that bad but it was kinda boring after awhile the worlds feel empty and there is nothing more to do then follow a path and its kinda annoying to restart from the beginning when you die maybe, add more nps,thing to do and more things to see

I haven't played much but this is peak I can already tell, I love the weightiness of the combat, the audio, just everything about the game I already love. If this could get more developers on it/get a little more polished this would become everything I wised Wizard of Legend could've been (Wizard of Legend is still a great game but there are a few things I would change). I NEED THIS GAME TO GO MAINSTREAM. (Note: I just looked at the fact it is unfortunately abandoned, I really do hope this developer could try to continue development/get funding and or whatever they would need to continue this game.)

Not sure what is going on, reached the credits in less than an hour, but the gameplay is very good :>

I don't typically write reviews, but hey I wanna help out. This game has some really interesting core gameplay mechanics. It's really really short, and the fact that you're upgrades glitch out when you quit out is aggravating, but I can look past that. This definitely isn't the best game of all time, not by a longshot but it's a neat aesthetic, the sound design is mint, and the core is dope. If the dev drops some updates to fix the glitch with your upgrades, and maybe add a little bit more gameplay, it could easily get into the higher tier. As is, I give it a 7/10, very mint.

Snappy combat, and fun game play loop. Could use some shortcuts to skip earlier sections once you progress further. Running back through three biomes to get to the final boss after dying is frustrating. It has no story to speak on, so the hub area and characters seem very lifeless. The whole game is focused solely on the combat which isn't a bad thing but the game is shallow because of it. Upgrades are nice and using monster drops to add to attacks is fun. The whole game was made on a $2k budget by 1 person so it's great considering that. Beat it in about 2 hours and I'd recommend it if you're looking for some mindless hack and slash.
