all the devs did is just smear some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ onscreen and call it a video game
Abyssmal. Absolutely not. Visually loud with no real reason or impact behind it. Extraordinarily basic everything.
Boring
Luck > Skill
There will be a TL;DR at the end. ~ I’ll keep this as short and simple as possible - like one of the countless doomed runs this game promises. Overture is a quaint and essentially simple title that ticks all the boxes it really sets out to fulfill, but doesn't really have enough momentum to break away from its own mold. There’s only really one style of game that there is: an RNG selected level with an RNG bossfight at the end. Ramping difficulty while you travel to the final level. Some of the enemies are map/biome specific, but mostly are the same general foes with increases to their HP and damage. Loot is randomly distributed, with randomly generated results. Enemies randomly drop items and additional gold with XP rewards being dolled out randomly. The bosses choose their movesets randomly, with their efficacy being randomly generated. Is it fun? It IS for a while. Issues begin to pop up when it comes to limited replayability and the awkward Character system; where there are, admittedly, quite a few different ‘styles’ to play as and go through the randomized core loop alongside wi…
Boring, confusing, repetitive, monotonous. These words are, in my honest opinion, perfect for describing this game, which presents itself as action adventure rogue like. You are tossed in random generated world, where your goal is to find and eliminate floor boss and continue, until you get to final boss fight. GUI, including main menu also, is very poor, confusing and unintuitive. Items are so random, that it is difficulty for newcomers to get oriented in game system. It uses pixel graphics, which is always nice, but there is something weird about it. Some models feel like they are inconsistent with other entities and environments in game. I have high suspiction, that atleast some of the assets are generic. Game also gets quickly repetitive, which is common and kinda fundamental game for rogue-like games, but here it also rapidly lowers your interest in game. Not even big number of classes can save it nor longer game time (few hours basicaly). I just did not enjoy it. For it, I can't recommend it.
A confused mixture of objects on the screen.
