The Millennium Catastrophe: A Reunion of Destinies
The story takes place a thousand years after the four disciples of the Journey to the West returned from their pilgrimage, specifically during the twelfth year of the Chongzhen Emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1639 AD). After a millennium of spreading the Mahayana sutras throughout the Central Plains, demons from the West began to wreak havoc, seeking to seize these precious scriptures. The Central Plains were plunged into disaster, yet the celestial gods and Buddhas remained indifferent. To save the world and unravel the secrets behind the scriptures, the four disciples of the Journey to the West decided to descend to the mortal realm once more. Together, they battled the demons and searched for the original scriptures scattered across the Central Plains, hoping to uncover the "unspeakable
secrets" hidden within.

This is definitely one of the games of all time, for sure. ****, it almost defies explanation. There are SO many unpolished and half finished aspects to it, it really plays more like a proof of concept than a finished game. It makes me think this is likely a young person or solo devs first attempt at a 3d action game of this level of complexity. Like probably there was a grand idea of "this is gonna be like Wukong but with Tang Sanzang and Bajie and the sand guy! We'll do the whole story in multiplayer action!" and about halfway in he realized "holy F this is way harder than i thought" and crashed out (understandably) Like the due date snuck up so you just had to release the rough draft and hope for the best. Probably less than 100 people bought this, this will be the 8th review on Steam, and maybe the 1st positive one, so i have to at least preface this review with some realism and the negative points. Is this a polished, curated experience? Absolutely not. It plays like a half finished Sega Saturn title made on a microbudget. However, is it Fun? Also, surprisingly, yes.
