Nightmare Adventures: The Turning Thorn

This is the second of two games that go with each other. I absolutely love the story which is why I have replayed this and the other one at least two or three times since I got them. I also love the supernatural elements and magic mixed with sci-fi elements yet set in 'modern times'. I would love to play more games with these elements combined. I love horror, sci-fi, fantasy, together all set on earth and in modern times. It also has a mystery and puzzle element to it without being a HOG. Although I love HOGs, I love others too. So, these genres combined and the intriguing story and the developed characters are the reasons I continue to play it and will replay it many times in the future. I loved the style of the journal (also known as the PDA) and the use of photos taken by camera to help solve things without solving them for me. The game IS a few years old though and the graphics are ok but I loved that everything focused on the story and characters without getting sidetracked. All of this is true for both of these games. I would love to find more games like these two. I highly recommend these two games which don't cost a lot of money for such enjoyment.

I was able to play this adventure game on Win 11 by changing my display to 1024x768 and had no issues or bugs whatsoever. This "sequel" is MUCH harder than the first; some of the puzzles are quite convoluted to solve because the hint system (if you can call it that) is very limited. Some solutions will cause some "ha ha!" moments. I did not skip any puzzles and completed the game in 6 hours; perhaps your mileage will vary. Unfortunately, the story doesn't really "end" as it leaves the door open for a sequel, but I've never seen it. VERY unusual puzzles, even by today's HOPA and Adventure game standards. The game shows its age (though there are some voice-overs) where a LOT of the story is told through various pages of texts found in various locations. Still, I recommend for fans of the genre. PS: This is NOT a HOPA.

If you want true brainteasers you can't go wrong with this game! Whoever came up with it must be an absolute genius.
