I think I've used "generic" to describe so many visual novels that it's lost its meaning at this point. This one involves the protagonist travelling to Martha's Vineyard (which I admittedly never expected to see in a VN) on a business trip and reconnecting with an old crush from high school. It's fairly short and the achievements are easy to get, but it doesn't really make up for the lackluster story and dialogue.5 found this helpful
Bland story with little depth. The skip function is a pain in the proverbial, as there's no option to skip only previously read text. Although, the choices only seem to affect one or two lines of dialogue anyway, so I wasn't missing much. My biggest gripe, and the reason why I'm bothering to write a review at all, is the closing credits song. You cannot skip it, not without closing the game, and in order to get all the endings you have to play through multiple times, so you get to listen to the barely competent ballad sung by a vocalist who is not quite bad enough to be bad, but also not great either at least six times. It's going to haunt me for a while.3 found this helpful
One Last Chance, developed and published by Last Lotus, is a short and introspective visual novel that explores the fragile emotions tied to love, regret, and the idea of second chances. Set in a small coastal town in Massachusetts, the story centers on the concept of revisiting an unspoken past—an old flame, a moment missed, and the quiet yearning that follows in its wake. From its opening scenes, the game establishes a reflective tone, asking the player to recall the feeling of having loved someone without ever saying it out loud. It’s a premise that immediately resonates with anyone who has experienced the bittersweet tension of a lost opportunity. Rather than relying on drama or shocking revelations, the narrative thrives on subtle emotional beats and the slow rediscovery of a connection that time and circumstance once set aside. The visual presentation of One Last Chance complements its tender narrative with a soothing and understated aesthetic. The character art is drawn in a clean, modern anime style, filled with soft colors and gentle expressions that reflect the warmth and melancholy of the story. The backgrounds capture the idyllic calm of a coastal setting, with seaside…
I am really sorry but I just cannot get myself to like this game... Probably lots of effort was put into it but it just doesn't measure up. I am usually a fan of the childhood friend / flame trope but I feel like it wasn't done it justice in this 20 minute short story. You play as Ben who has to fly to America for his business trip where he runs into his old schoolfriend / crush. THe setting itself is okay but felt extremly generic and kinda boring for a short story. I am sure this is a very beautiful place in real life but the back drops just don't capture that vibe, it feels just very run down? The art sprites are very beautiful but just don't fit the setting at all in my opinion. The voice actress for Diane was okay and fitted the vibe of the sprite. But the voice actor of Bens colleuge felt like he was just reading from the script for the first time? Same for Taras voice actress. While I found her voice cool it just didn't fit the sprite at all and the voice acting really could use some improving...sorry :/ The love story between these two is never explored. You get to know how they met which felt very unexciting and there is another flashback where they part. Tara is very …
EXTREMELY short with a sweet story
Yesterday I played a game like that: a 30’ visual novel and was one of the best ones I’ve ever played, but this one was boring as hell. The story was quite empty.
