One more gem

Played Supaplex as a child. This is better in about every single way.

One More Gem is an enjoyable Boulder Dash-like game, in a level by level basis in a action puzzle square tile-based environment of digging through dirt to find gems, and dealing with obstacles such as falling objects and enemies. Unlike other games I played and reviewed, this is the first time I outright bought the game from the new Steam game releases section, because there were so few of these kinds of games within the past 5 years, free or paid. I wishlisted countless Steam games and checked the new game releases every couple or few days roughly, but this one, I felt I had to buy it since puzzle games don't tend to sell as much [url=https://steamcommunity.com/app/505400/eventcomments/1633040337753435367/?tscn=1760293710#c600792156684265941]if at least based on talking to the developer of Rake in Grass on Diamond Joyce and the Secret of Crystal Cave[/url]. I have fond memories of playing Boulder Dash on my C128 and I'm aware of the rich history of rocks-and-diamonds games that exist. One More Gem is a great reinterpretation of these games, with the same kind of clear and colorful toy-like aestethics, reimagined with modern technology. The levels range from simple and relaxing to tricky ones where you really have to think and plan ahead. Most levels I've played so far aren't too hard to finish, but trying to get all the stars is a much more challenging proposition. The undo feature was especially welcome, it really removes the most frustrating aspect of the original, leaving room for more clever and challenging puzzles. More than anything this is a perfect game for the Deck, playing in short sessions between other tasks. Only... they don't always end up so short... because there is always One More Gem to try and collect... the tricky one in the corner... for that extra star.

I tried One more gem as I like challenging puzzles, that reward smarts over luck, and I got in love with it. the first levels fooled me into thinking I will be able to finish it without much struggle, but then the game gets harder and very intriguingly, with many characters, diverse music and an unique story. I have fun helping Moss and Pebla by collecting gems to fix the chaos, and triggering those domino-style reactions, makes it insanely addictive. Absolutely recommend One More Gem if you want a game that stimulates your thinking through strategy, but at the same time lets you have fun and get involved in the story. 10/10!

OMG is a fun and charming love letter to Boulder Dash, with a wholesome and immensely nostalgic 3D aesthetic. Its sound design alone enthralls and bamboozles your senses, giving you a entertaining and addicting experience. Time will fly by as you solve puzzles, snack on gems, and inevitably explode. It takes you on a journey back to the simple days of 80s/90s arcade games, so be prepared to step into the past.
