Operation Covid-19 is a small, deliberately absurd first-person shooter that captures the strange atmosphere of the early COVID-19 era by turning pandemic anxieties into an arcade survival game. Developed and published by Supernice, the project was created by solo developer Dan Gaud during quarantine and released in June 2020. Rather than presenting the pandemic realistically, it uses exaggerated humor as its foundation, placing players inside a house that has been invaded by enormous viruses. The solution is appropriately ridiculous: eliminate the infection with a weapon that fires toilet paper. The concept is closely tied to the period in which the game was made. Toilet paper became one of the most recognizable symbols of early pandemic panic buying, so transforming it into ammunition gives Operation Covid-19 an unmistakably topical identity. The developer explains that the game was intended as a humorous outlet for pandemic-related frustration rather than an attempt to mock people who suffered because of the disease. The walking and shaking the screen hurts my eyes and head. The game is a bit too dark even with the picture edits. Got sick of game play after 1st death. I got to them blue ballz :P
