About Orbital Overdrive

Orbital Overdrive is a roguelite twin-stick arena shooter built around one core tension: your score is your lifeline.

Survive brutal enemy waves on the orbit of a planet, racking up score with every kill. But here's the catch: that score is also your currency. Spend it between waves on weapons and upgrades to survive the next onslaught, or hold onto it and bank the XP when you die. Every run forces real choices. Go in loaded with firepower, or gamble on skill and walk away with a bigger permanent payoff.
The Orbit Fight waves of enemies in fast, focused arena combat. Tight twin-stick controls. Hundreds of weapons and abilities. Build something deadly, or build something weird. The game supports it either way.The Core Mid-run, dive below the surface to the planet's core. Harvest power-ups or take on massive bosses, but every second underground costs you score. It's a calculated risk: go deeper for bigger rewards, or play it safe on the surface.Progression That Matters After each run, your banked score converts to XP. Level up. Unlock new ship computers that change how you play. Every death makes the next run a little different.
Experienced on PSVR2 and Meta Quest 3
You can view my VR gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/WWSBUVRVO68 This is nice for the budget price. It's a rogue-lite classic shmup that is VR suported. I used a gamepad. The gameplay is solid & challenging. You can get upgrades and the challenge will increase as you progress. The game has very simple geometric patterns for the visuals. You can consider this art-style an ode to the arcade classics. I didn't notice any issues with the gameplay, but you will need to get good to get very far. Game runs smoothly as well. However, although this game is budget priced, there are better games in this genre. I recently played Stratogun and I thought it was a better game overall, but it's also twice the price. Anceder is also very good, but also double the price. So if you're looking for the budget option, this may be what you're looking for. It's solid for what it is. Fast-paced and fun! You fly around a planet shooting cubes and asteroids while dodging spinning blades. There's also an "inverse" side to the planet where you need to go to complete tasks and get boosts. I liked the mechanic that your score doubles as currency for upgrading your ship after the wave, so you're constantly balancing between a high score and keeping your stats up as the difficulty increases. VR mode looks good, and the inverse side has a really nice 3D depth to the background.

"The game is called Orbital Backshots, right?" Orbital Overdrive has an extremely addictive gameplay loop. The mix of bullet-hell combat, constant upgrades creates the kind of momentum where every run feels faster and more chaotic than the last. The upgrade system does a great job encouraging aggressive play and the combat stays satisfying even once the screen becomes complete visual chaos. What stood out most is that it genuinely made me want to keep playing after the session ended, which is usually the best compliment a roguelite can get. Fun game, challenging but great to play in-between breaks and so on. Let's get back to it....

Can´t recommend. I have seen dozens of roguelikes do the same mistake; upgrades give +0,45% to fire rate. I can´t notice any difference or get excited when I get an upgrade. If you are looking for a good twin-stick shooter with roguelike-elements, play Sektori.
