Orienteering Simulator

A missed opportunity, could be a great game, but : - no controller support (the game has been made in Unity, it is easy to add) ; - no support for non-QWERTY keyboards, and no possibility to remap the keys (on my keyboard the W key is not above the S key) ; - when you are viewing the map, you can no longer move or turn. This forces you to open the map, close the map, turn a bit, re-open the map, close it again, etc. instead of just looking at the map and turning until you discover the feature you are searching for ; - the map cannot be rotated to match the direction of your progression. A golden rule of orienteering is to have the map oriented at all times. This game does not allow it. Instead it tells us : "rotate your character towards north, so your map matches the environment around you", which is totally backwards.

I like a lot of things with this. However, I wish you could just do a normal orienteering route. Would be ok with just 5-6 checkpoints. The two game modes feels more like tutorial / challenge exercises. This has a lot of potential and as a free game it's hard to complain. Great base to build upon.

Such a nice little cozy game, the graphics are simple yet the sound is top peak. Its a shame that the game doesn't received any further updates, hope the dev is doing fine.

Ended up enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. The whole map and compass gameplay is surprisingly immersive once you stop relying on game instincts and actually pay attention to your surroundings. It’s calm, simple, and really easy to just zone out with for a while after playing more fast paced games.
