OUMUAMUA is a tightly scoped, retro-minded arcade action game developed by RETSUZAN and published by Henteko Doujin that proudly embraces the aesthetics and design philosophy of late-1980s handheld gaming. Rather than modernizing the brick-breaker formula with lavish effects or layered meta systems, the game commits to immediacy and tactile control, presenting an experience that feels intentionally “small” in scale but carefully tuned in feel. Its identity is rooted in nostalgia, yet it avoids becoming a museum piece by injecting active combat mechanics that keep the moment-to-moment play brisk and hands-on. At the heart of OUMUAMUA is a reworked take on classic brick breaking. Players control a small ship that deflects a ball to shatter blocks, but the familiar loop is expanded with direct offensive options. The ship can fire weapons, deploy bombs, and use short dashes to reposition quickly, transforming the passive back-and-forth of traditional paddle play into something more aggressive and reactive. This shift subtly changes player psychology: instead of waiting for the ball to do the work, you are constantly deciding when to attack, when to reposition, and how to manage threat…4 found this helpful
OUMUAMUA is a simple classic brick breaker in a Gameboy style. It's played with keyboard or controller. To reach for fast balls there's an action button for jump and dash. The second button is for launching the balls and bombing, for aiming the bombs you have a reticle you can move up and down. At the end of each world there's a boss stage with one or more bosses to defeat. Use Esc to go full screen. I like it, a challenging arcade game. You need to play it tactical, keep your slowest ball in play if you have to choose and save your bombs for those tight spots. https://youtu.be/4zvHM7golFA https://youtu.be/PkXD3WwMurQ4 found this helpful
