Out of Three

I don't recommend Out of Three because this game acts like an unfinished project or demo rather than a complete game. The artwork is bad. The overall game play is too simple and shallow. There are also bugs.

"Out of Three" is a rather badly local multiplayer only boss fighting 2D game that logically cannot be played. Here's why. If you try to make your friends play such a crap game, you won't have any friends anymore. It's a student project, and I'm pretty sure the students failed. Maybe if there was online co-op this could have gone somewhere. I wonder what the point of this was in terms of curriculum. "Okay students, this semester we're going to teach you some things you must never do if you want to be a game developer." This features really godawful, lazy retro "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Out of Three is a small-scale cooperative action game that builds its entire identity around three players working together against a powerful enemy. Developed by Resurgence Studio and published by Resurgence Studio and IIM Digital School, the game embraces a deliberately focused structure instead of attempting to become a lengthy adventure filled with dozens of stages and complicated progression systems. Its central concept is easy to understand: three inexperienced adventurers are trapped in a dungeon, confronted by a monstrous Gorgon, and must learn how to combine three very different weapons if they hope to survive.
