nice mix of old school and modern day pop culture references from video games to films we all know and love3 found this helpful
"OUTSIDE" is a badly made, failed attempt at recreating a retro gaming experience like you might get with Ultima, except without the fantastic sword and sorcery RPG system, expansive open fantasy world, and gripping gameplay, instead it's just a crap 2D retro pixel adventure game that nobody wanted or played (check out the SteamDB stats if you want a laugh). What do you do in the game? You clunk around a top down 2D retro pixel square tile based set of maps and do some primitive NPC interactions. Or, like the 120,000,000 other gamers on Steam, don't. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a $2 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to buy soundtr…3 found this helpful
Good little game. Very short but with interesting content. One or two head scratchers and definitely a few laughs.1 found this helpful
the game is a good time its super charming and obviously was made out of fun i had a great time and the music sounds really sweet my only issue is that the game can feel a bit nauseating sometimes whenever you move but it aint anything that hard to get use too overall you can beat the game in like about a hour and do everything there is to do and i love all the little video game references. one more thing WHATS THE DEAL WITH THE HAKTOOK ENDING AND WELL JEEZ
A great little game that feels like a MS-DOS shareware from 1997. It's very simple but the world is rich, full of little things to discover and videogame references. The only thing that distinguish it from a payed for game, is probably the quality of writing.
