About Pacifist Outside
You are the strongest, wisest and bravest of our tribe.
You must complete the trials to become Chief.
The trials lie ahead.
Pacifist Outside is a cinematic platformer in the vein of games like the original Prince of Persia, Abe's Oddysee and Another World. It is every bit as uncompromising as its predecessors: failure is frequent and progress is hard-earned.

Play as a brave tribal leader, grappling with strange trials and unknown forces, as he makes a spiritual journey through a dark cave. Dash through heart-pounding chases, solve devious puzzles and discover the secrets within the cave.

A carefully crafted experience, designed screen-by-screen, featuring a distinct art style and spanning 150 screens, each with painstakingly drawn unique backdrops. And all of this accompanied by nearly half an hour of ambient and otherworldly music by Shugendo - the journey is every bit as important as the destination.

If you're a fan of the original Oddworld games, you'll love this game. It invokes a very similar experience in terms of atmosphere, music and gameplay, yet has enough differences to set itself apart. It's artstyle is very striking. It impressively manages to create a gripping, dark atmosphere by using only 3 colours and the use of silhouettes really helps with it's tone. Lastly, the gameplay; whilst nowhere near as perfected as the old Oddworld games, works well. I particularly like the enemies sending you directly back to the checkpoint instead of killing you and then making the player wait for the game to reload. And the level design is challenging yet fair, with some interesting puzzles. Overall I enjoyed this game. It harkens back to those classic games and it feels great to return to the cinematic platformer genre. It could do with a bit more polish, but for £6, you could do a lot worse.3 found this helpful
Playtested the game, glad to see it finally coming to steam as a full product. Really well made puzzle platformer, with the original vision. Can we have the ost too? PS.: I ain't forgiving you for making this pixel perfect. And no numpad command?2 found this helpful
I've finished the game in 3 hours , the game is a nice tribute to Oddworld , if you like the genre you'll enjoy this game too. It might be difficult to get used to controls , sometimes doesn't grab the ledge properly , but overall it's an appreciated attempt to give Oddworld vibes with a 2D cinematic platformer that has a nice atmosphere and good music. I recommend to play this!1 found this helpful
A really well made platformer, a true homage to the classics as the description says. It lacks a little bit the refinment of a fully advanced game (mostly at the story and the variety of levels) but the mechanics are great, the length is quite long and most of all it's a one of the least representatives of the genre you can find out there. Fully recomended! Congrats!
A nice short and sweet cinematic platformer that scratches the Oddworld/PoP itch. Has a few problems with collision and one or two rare bugs, but overall its a very well put together game that pays tribute to what came before it, and lasts just as long as it needs to
First of all a big thanks to the developer for providing me the game. The only idea i have coming into the game is that it would be something akin to Another World. While having similarities in their mechanics, this builds on the former as the controls feel more responsive. Also have the rage building going on, but more manageable due to improvement in controls. Visuals is unique, successfully invoking dread with its minimalist design and sound effects. Story is fairly straightforward as emphasis seems to be focused on gameplay. Varied level designs becomes more rewarding with an ever increasing challenge. My only suggestion would be addition of controller support. Overall, I recommend this game for fans of puzzle and platforming games alike.
