About Paddle Master VR

Paddle Master VR is a cross between a breakout-style game and racquetball, inspired by a popular mobile game (Ballz). You play inside something like a racquetball court, but with numbered blocks that you must destroy. You have a gun that you use to shoot balls at the blocks, and a paddle to keep the balls in play when they bounce back to you. When your balls are all gone, your gun is automatically reloaded, and a new row of blocks appears, and any old blocks are moved closer to you. You lose when any blocks get pushed past the red line marking the front of the play area. Oh, and the balls have a tendency to explode... How long can you last?
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/77Xm8MlslWM As the store description states, this game is is a mix of breakout / arkanoid and racquetball type games. I would say it's on the arcade side of racquetball, versus realistic ball physics. If you're expecting a cheap competitor to Holoball or Racquet NX, I can tell you this game pales in comparison to those games. There is a reason it's on sale for .99 cents. It's not that good, but it's also not bad. I did not enjoy the game all that much, but I can see others enjoying this type of challenge. This is a challenging almost puzzle like game. You do have to figure the trajectories and the ball can come back at lightning speeds for you to return. The game is very basic, but nevertheless, there's quite the challenge in mastering this game and in climbing those leaderboards. Each block has a number, one that generally increases as you go along. The higher the number, the higher amount of times you have to hit it or the higher the force you have to hit it with. After a certain amount of bounces, your ball explodes, taking out several blocks. The number …

The physics are completely broken. Hitting the ball does a vague impression of going in a direction away from you most of the time, but never in an accurate direction you're aiming. Other times the ball comes off the paddle and travels in a completely random direction. And there's no sense of weight behind your strikes having any influence on the ball speed. The game concept is okay, but this is a game about physics, and there's nothing remotely realistic here, leading to immense frustration with every strike. It's not worthy of me making a video to promote it, so I didn't.

Paddle Master is an entertaining, casual title that nails the immersive room-scale VR feel. I quickly found myself attempting desperate, futile saves with my feet when I couldn't stretch my paddle arm in time. The challenge tapers a bit as you collect ammo and damage upgrades, but you can step up the difficulty (and fun!) at your own discretion by fielding several balls at once. Great game overall, and I'd especially recommend it as an accessible, affordable introduction to casual arcade/sports games in VR.
