About Pale Abyss - Prototype
Our precious sunlight… taken by that… thing.
The Pale Abyss, they call it. A wound in the earth, an accursed maw that swallows all it touches. And from its depths spills that pale, unholy light. Lay your eyes upon it… Our warm and golden sunlight has been dragged down into that darkness, twisted and defiled. Mocking us with what was taken!Immersive First-Person "King's Field-Like" Exploration
Master the tactile combat of old school melee and magic when battling strange creatures and traversing the depths. If you want to survive the Pale Abyss, you'll have to fight with every scrap you can find. Long lost weapons, spells and consumables will aid you on your way.Let the Abyss change your very being with the unique Otherworldly Influence System
In the Pale Abyss the otherworldly beings seem to clash and influence whatever mortal beings dare to descend its vast depths. Your actions in battle and during exploration shape your mind and body as you drift towards either the Abyssal or the Occult. Many secrets and powers are connected to the otherworldly, but when trifling with the eldritch, you might discover unheard of dangers as well...Beautiful Old-School Aesthetics
Harken back to a simpler time in gaming where the few polygons we had jittered and shifted away as we were in awe of the first instances of 3D on our CRT screens. Pale Abyss combines its more modern gameplay with this nostalgic aesthetic to bring a whole new experience in a familiar form. From Humble Origins to Stalwart Explorer
Choose from 6 different starter classes with unique origins and let your choice of character stats and Level Ups empower you and the way you fight!Rich Asynchronous Multiplayer
Communicate with other delvers with Chatter Pebbles. Leave behind cryptic messages for other players to find and feel the faint echoes of other players' journeys as you traverse through the Pale Abyss.Small team with big aspirations
Pale Abyss is a student project by a team of three people made within six months. As such, this game is currently only a short Demo with about 1 hour of playtime, but we will continue providing updates in the future. Our humble team at Permanent Crab Studios consists of one Programmer, one 3D Artist and one Musician. While it ain't much, it's honest work, so please enjoy this experience we created for any Adventure Game enthusiast.

Enjoyed the demo just needs 1 boss minimum to give abit more pleasure of accomplishment or beating something even if its easy but the game overall is really beautiful and enjoyable exploration wise. Soundtrack gets boring fast but it is good though. Can't wait for the final game it has a very good foundation so far and lots of potential!1 found this helpful
It's free, so I'm taking that into consideration with this recommendation. The graphics are nice, and I can see there's something here. Combat is ... "abysmal"... so there's opportunity for improvement there. The exoskeleton enemies take entirely too long to kill. The save system is good and somewhat forgiving, so there is that. I can see there's something here, something that could be good. It's just not quite there yet.1 found this helpful

Game is good, Reminds me of king's field. I had/have seen comments that this is another Lunacid copy or something... The reason we have so many games today in the first place is because of those that came before it... People are very critical and will always complain about something because most live reactively dare I say. There is a saturated market, I understand that. I will definitely be picking this up when it releases. There is value here... The Original Doom (which was released a year before the original king's field), comes to mind when id Software and all the great minds put their heads together to literally share what they made to everyone so others could make something from it and learn. Improving engines, art styles, tech, and countless inspiration(s) to this day. People still use similar engines to make games and projects of their own today... Same with the Sword of the Moonlight pc game-making tool released by From Software... Which everyone recognizes that name now because of Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring etc. and everyone "copies" them depending on who you ask. Just like doom and the "boomer shooter" genre, they essentially created a whole genre (…1 found this helpful
It's ok gameplay wise but lacks the enemy variety of the Shadow Tower games...
I sometimes like to hunt down free games on Steam, but I hate when what is basically a demo is labeled as a free game. There's no reason to play this because you can barely interact with anything and the whole thing is over in about five minutes.
