About Particles of Reality
This game is not for the light-hearted. This is not a happy, fluffy, feel-good game. Do not play this game if you are easily or moderately offendable.

(unlocked as you play) Bonus Content: What-If Scenarios that explore wild alternatives, each with up to two endings. (unlocked as you play) Walkthroughs available in game! No struggling how to figure out how to unlock a CG or side content Choices that do not alter the ending are clearly marked. No trial-and-error required. Optional censor settings. But that's neither here nor there. This is a game about alternate universes and the alternative realities therein.
You play the main character of multiple versions (aka Routes) of multiple clusters of reality (aka Worlds, like Obsession!). The characters around you will always be the same people, but the worlds will vary wildly. But... what does any of this have to do with you destroying reality?!
One day, a handsome stranger enters your life, and he doesn't want to leave. He likes you. He wants you. He needs you. He writes bad poetry about you. He is your soulmate. Your fate. Whether you like it or not. ... Do you like it... or not?(DLC) Sebastian has a twin brother, who's lives a non-traditional hedonistic lifestyle. He cares about his brother a lot, and his brother wants you.
Julian is your co-worker. He's an asshole and a jerk, yet... on rare occasions, can also be very kind, respectful, and affection. He has a strange yet beautiful dragon tattoo that holds some special meaning to him. It's no secret that he likes you, but... he's hiding something. Something big.
Brandon is an external content patch. See the forums after release for more details.
You grew up with your brother in a house full of crime, pain, and trauma. Brandon was the only one who saw you, loved you, and protected you. Your parents kept you isolated, abusing and neglecting you while praising and supporting him... and while grooming him to takeover the mafia family and training him to be a skilled murderer, businessman, and assassin.
The more they tried to separate you, the closer you grew. You needed each other. Is it any wonder that the trauma brought you closer together in unhealthy ways?
Your best friend and roommate. He's gender-fluid, bisexual, carefree, happy, trustworthy, kind, loving, and a party animal. But... there's a lot of pain behind those eyes.

I have finished all routes and achievements for this game. I really liked the dark premise and the start of the game is very fun. Once you are deeper in the story, I found it a bit lackluster though. All endings are bad, but they are not that interesting. You might die or your lover might die or you might end up entrapped. But from a game with many bad endings I would have liked to see more different, unique and surprising endings. It seemed all too similar, you were just waiting to get shot at the end. The R18 scenes looked a bit awkward in some routes, e.g. anatomically a bit off. Overall, I would recommend it only if you like dark games and have played very few of those or if you really play only for the art and the love interests.2 found this helpful
This is truly unlike any other game. Tons of content, so many endings, so much yearning for a happy one that may or may not exist once the final piece (Remembrance) is released. It is dark dark dark - explaining one of the endings to my SO made him...confused. It is really geared towards the female gaze/perspective genuinely as well. Lots of TWs clear for each timeline. Even with the complexity of the game the developer updates with polished content at what seems like unprecedented speed on Patreon for the next piece - so it seems like it should be completed on a reasonable timeline instead of the years of other projects. You progress to each ending on a play-through, and there are so many endings. It's kind of wild how much content there is here versus other similar games, more than looking forward to Remembrance. Desperate for a...somewhat happy ending? Not the most messed up endings ever? But was entertained by the journey so far.1 found this helpful
Not for people who doesn't like dark themes. I like it overall but I think I wished for more control over the MC. I get that she's traumatized BUT sometimes she just makes VERY bad descitions without "my" control. I played a lot of otomes and she makes me irritated sometimes. Like...♥♥♥♥♥ come on.
I've already clocked like 60 hours into this game a couple years ago via itch.io. I used to review mostly non-indie otome games for SML Podcast under the name mcdonaldsgoth. This is my favorite indie romance visual novel of all time. I've gone on record at multiple conventions as a panelist also highly recommending this game to anyone who can handle the content warnings. I beg people to play this; I've bought it for multiple people. I decided to buy this game for Steam to just give them some more money, and replay it. I do so knowing all my Steam friends can see the page for this game and think I'm watching porn. Let them think that. They should play it and not toggle the sexually explicit parts off either. They will be a better person for it. As a final note, I want to say I don't love poly stuff, but Alexander's route made me question myself. Still, it's Sebastian for me until the cows come home. He can murder me for even downloading Alexander's route in the first place, for all I care. I deserve it.
Whew. Where do you even start with this one? If you’re into dark, toxic romance like yanderes, obsession, confinement, the whole red/black flag lineup—don’t skip it. I played on itch, so my runtime clocked in closer to 60 hours, and not a second felt wasted. Fair warning: it gets heavy. Even when you know what kind of story you signed up for, you’ll still catch yourself hoping for a happy ending… and immediately realizing that’s probably not how this goes. The writing is phenomenal. It's sharp, immersive, and unapologetically messed up in all the right ways. Each path is packed with endings, so the replay value is kind of ridiculous. And the “What If” scenarios are genuinely one of the best parts. Perfect if you’re the type who can’t stop poking at alternate outcomes. Overall, the fact that this was made by one person is honestly insane.
