About Pathogenesis: Overcome
The pathogen that stripped humanity down to pure instinct was no accident. The collapse of the world, set in motion by human will, proved irreversible. Many survived — but did all of them remain human? This is the story of a man who must overcome a series of trials to find his place in the coming chaos and preserve his humanity.Pathogenesis: Overcome is a narrative-driven action RPG set in Russia during a global pandemic. The game blends hardcore gameplay, tactical combat, open-environment exploration, and survival elements. The world must be approached with caution — weapons and equipment are scarce, and the infected are far from the greatest threat. Armed survivors, forming violent groups and factions, pose a much greater danger.
TACTICS OVER REFLEXES
Combat is not about fast clicks, but about planning and situational awareness. Ammunition is limited and has weight, weapons wear down, and a careless firefight can quickly lead to defeat. Not every conflict is worth engaging.Using cover, terrain, and proper positioning is critical. A single bullet can be fatal, and a reckless dash into enemy fire may become the character’s final decision.WEAPONS AND COMBAT CONTROL
Direct control and an aiming mode provide freedom of movement and precise control in fast-changing combat situations.Realistic ballistics, armor-piercing ammunition capable of penetrating cover, and a precision aiming system allow players to prevail even against numerically superior enemies. An extensive arsenal of real-world firearms supports deep customization, enabling fine-tuning of ergonomics and accuracy. However, excessive attachments come at a cost — weapon weight and size directly affect the character’s mobility and handling.EXPLORATION AND SURVIVAL
Locations are designed as open environments filled with buildings, hidden stashes, and alternative routes. Players must search for equipment, resources, and information while gradually advancing through the world and its story.Survival elements complement the core gameplay. Injuries, bleeding, fatigue, and overall condition require attention. Medical supplies, food, and rest help recovery, but they never replace caution and tactical thinking.ENEMIES AND CONFLICT
The infected are not zombies, but humans whose minds have been altered by the pathogen. They are fast, aggressive, resilient, and dangerous in large numbers — yet still relatively predictable. The true threat comes from armed survivors. Using cover, maneuvers, coordination, and a wide range of weapons, they create complex tactical situations that force deliberate decision-making. Each faction differs not only in appearance, but also in equipment, gear, and tactical behavior.DEVELOPMENT STATUS
The game is in active development. Core systems for gameplay, controls, AI, weapons, exploration, and progression are already implemented. Future updates will expand the narrative content, locations, enemies, RPG mechanics, world interaction, and further develop weapons, gear, and gameplay systems. What Steam players say

I originally started the refund process because the optimization is rough but I decided to keep playing. From what I’ve read, this game has been in development for around 7 years, yet performance is still poor. Even on a high-end PC, I was getting 20–30 FPS on medium settings. That’s hard to justify when modern AAA games run better while doing far more technically. The inventory system is also unnecessarily complicated and feels like it requires hours of practice just to do basic actions efficiently. Reloading a Mosin through the inventory system instead of simply pressing "R" feels clunky and artificial. In real life and in most other games, you simply load each cartridge by hand. Some mechanics also make little sense. Having to use tourniquets for abdominal or head injuries breaks immersion immediately. AI and zombies detect you almost the same way regardless of standing, crouching, or crawling, which makes stealth feel pointless. The stash system is not explained at all. Since there’s no clear base storage system early on, you end up hauling around piles of gear because you don’t know what is actually safe to store or where. Without meaningful base-building or reliable storag…4 found this helpful
Can't run it in 4k or the UI is way too small. otherwise, I would say this looked promising... I'm gonna still give it a shot by downscaling to 1920x1080.4 found this helpful
A very nicely imagined game, especially considering it’s still in the early stages. It would be great if base building was added, where you could store items, and maybe some friendly NPCs who could help you. For now, it’s good. As for the price, the 50% discount is okay, but in my opinion the full price is too high since the game is still at the beginning of development. Honestly, I think the current price should be around 10 euros — that way you would probably attract a lot more players to the game. But overall, great job on what has been done so far :D2 found this helpful
The game's control mechanism can be challenging for players unfamiliar with games like Men of War. However, once you get use of it, the experience becomes quite engaging. You have the freedom to decide your playstyle and equipment based on scavenged items, requiring you to organise your inventory scientifically and logically. The survival element is not overly harsh, so you don't need to clutter your backpack with food and water, allowing you to focus entirely on ammo and medical items. On the downside, the suppressors are overpowered, making combat feel too easy, and the enemy's aim speed sometimes feels unrealistic. The interface can also be frustrating at resolutions of 2K or higher; the text is too small to read comfortably, and items appear tiny, making inventory management tedious. Hopefully, the developers will improve these aspects and add new maps in the future. Currently, there is only one map that can be thoroughly cleared in just a few hours. If the price were more reasonable, the game could attract a larger player base.1 found this helpful
When there are too many guns on the ground, usually 2 or 3, the game will crash; this error repeats very frequently. The configuration optimization is quite poor; my laptop with a 3060 graphics card only runs on low graphics settings.1 found this helpful
Aiming is wonky but lovely game and slowly becoming one of my favorites1 found this helpful
