The Last Plague: Blight

Complex crafting and moderate survival. Nice to find one that isn't about zombies and is more PvE.

Beautiful survival game with fairly detailed crafting and building mechanics. You're one of the few survivors of some kind of plague, so first you have to learn to survive nature (wolves + bears, hunger, dirty water, wounds becoming infected, etc), then learn to survive the plague. Apparently you have some protection from it since you're not dead, but you're also not immune - eating too much infected food makes you sick, for example. It's a fun system and what I've seen of the story so far is interesting, so 2 thumbs up pour moi!

I've played a lot of survival/crafting games over the years — 7 Days to Die, Icarus, Planet Crafter and many others — so I'm no stranger to grinding for resources or having to work your way through different technology tiers. Unfortunately, in its current state, The Last Plague: Blight takes that grind to a level that just isn't enjoyable. I actually really like the concept. The slower, more realistic approach to survival and crafting has a lot of potential, but there is a difference between realistic progression and making almost every basic task unnecessarily tedious. One of the biggest frustrations is constantly having to build something simply to make one item, then destroy or replace it to build the upgraded version needed for the next step. Instead of feeling like you're gradually improving your settlement, it often feels like you're jumping through hoops just to unlock the ability to make another basic item. Tool progression is particularly frustrating. There are no basic stone tools to bridge the early game and, despite going through the effort of producing bronze, there's no bronze pickaxe. I could just not get into this one very deep, it turned out to be no fun for me to play this. Even in Coop I gave fast up on playing it!

Beautiful procedurally generated environment. Very crafting focussed and difficult early game progress so if you love a challenge this is for you. Combat is glitchy (especially ranged) but I'm sure the kinks will be worked out as time goes on. Very impressive for (what I believe is) a solo dev.

very fun survival game, but needs a lot more content. As it is there is a decent content loop. But after you've built your base, it becomes repetitive.
