About PAWARUMI
IN A WORLD where the Council rules the nations with an iron fist, you play as Axo, pilot of the legendary ship Chukaru. Experience her fight with the limitless armies of the Council, become the master of Chukaru’s power and find the true meaning behind all your actions. A dark secret is yet to be revealed!
Accessible to the simple press of a button, Pawarumi offers you three different weapons and one super attack to rain divine fire on your enemies! To protect you in your intense journey, a shield will automatically trigger when you're about to be hit. It will annihilate any bullet around you! True to the shoot'em up genre, that shield is powerful but depletes very quickly so you'll still have to be very careful!
By shooting with the right weapon on the right type of enemy, Chukaru's unique Trinity Mechanic enables you to deal extra damage, heal your shield or recharge your super attack at any time! Not unlike the famous game of rock-paper-scissors, this original gameplay mechanic gives a whole new tactical layer to the genre.
Mastering these three mechanics will be key to your success in Pawarumi. They offer lots of strategic opportunities and always allows you to fall back on your feet, even after making a tiny mistake! The more you'll play, the better you'll juggle with the weapons, find your own style, finish the game and reach the top of the leaderboard!
Unique Artistic Direction: Set in a unique pre-columbian inspired sci-fi universe! Presented in full 3D: Allowing glorious cinematic staging! Five Unique Levels: All around the world and inspired by classics from the 1990s pop culture! Three Different Difficulty Levels: Each with a different story ending! Trinity Game Mechanic: Three fused mechanics that enable infinite strategies! Weapon Mastery Scoring System: Build up your own scoring strategy with careful weapon juggling. With no long standing combos to maintain, scorers will never be frustrated! Are you ready to challenge the top of the leaderboard? Dynamic Layered Music: Awesome Peruvian Electro-Metal soundtrack! Full Keyboard and Controller Support: With remappable inputs for maximum compatibility!

1) If you read any reviews or just saw the trailer, you see the game uses a 3 weapon system, you always have the 3 weapons and they are color coded. Blue, Green, Red. Enemies are also Blue, Green, Red, and each weapon will have different effects on each color. Attack enemies with weapons of the same color and you refill your shield (They call it BOOST), and the other two colors will either do more damage (CRUSH) or refill your special weapon (DRAIN). Special Weapon fires a lot of missiles on every enemy on screen and the more missiles you hit, more points you score. So the score system is based upon a balance between risking filling your special weapon for points or play safer and fill either your shield to stay alive or kill enemies fast. I must say, while there's a lot of merit on this system, it's confusing as hell. I always remember same color = fill shield, which is important to keep you alive. But I never remember what weapon I need to use for the other two effects, and have to keep looking at the hud distracts me from the main action. Which wouldn't be that bad except when the game starts throwing you stuff that REQUIRES you to use the "correct" weapons, and it makes it ev…3 found this helpful
Just saying, but I do have a curator page. If you like my remarks about games, you can find more of them here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44130985-TDP%27s-Gaming-Escapades
PAWARUMI is a very well-made shmup game, and one that I believe is criminally underrated. The game takes several inspirations from Ikaruga, which is one of the best games in the shmup/bullet hell genre, to form its gameplay and presentation. But while it does look great and is fun to play, some unfortunate issues and its reliance on being a classic-styled shmup ultimately cause it to not be a suitable pick for everyone.
Outstanding presentation
If there's one thing that PAWARUMI absolutely nails, it's the presentation. The soundtrack of the game is very well-composed. No doubts about that. But it's the visual design and polish that deserves the most praise. All of the level backgrounds in the game are very detailed and full of color, with each of them having a dominant shade of color throughout them to set their moods. The same applies to the player ship and the enemies, each having specific designs that make them wildly different to the other types. The cinematic came…2 found this helpful
Extremely polished, great art while still keeping bullets and enemies visible, and the weapon system is fantastic.2 found this helpful
