Shoot 'em ups don't need cash shops. This mobile garbage has no place in your library. This is a mobile app, made for app stores, not PC... it doesn't matter if this was ported to PC before or after the app store release, or even if this didn't even make it to the app stores. This was made by mobile app "developers", and intended for the lowest common denominator in gaming, and it must be judged accordingly... there's no contemporary, modern PC gaming experience in mobile apps. Pewt' em Up! is a decent shooter that is engaging for a few hours at least. It's not the pinnacle of its genre, but it's also free so it's a good idea to keep one's expectations in check. The good: - Solid mechanics - "Stage Mode" has you acquiring currency to power up both your ship's offense and defense, creating a satisfying sense of progression. - If you die in a stage, you keep the money you made up to that point, giving you a chance to power up before trying again. (Also: Unlimited lives.) - Sometimes friendly NPCs will join you in battle, and they are very helpful. - There are cut scenes if you like your shmups with a story, but the game is considerate enough to allow you to skip them automatically if you don't. - Similarly, holding down the fire button endlessly can be uncomfortable for my thumb, but the game also inlcudes an "auto fire" option which is very convenient. - Besides "Stage Mode", there is also "Endless Mode" where you can play as different unlockable ships. - Reasonable achievements (I 100%ed it in about 7 hours). This is fun. :) It's simple, and you can complete the story mode in a couple hours, but it's an enjoyable Shoot Em Up/Bullet Hell game. The Endless Mode has more play time for those who want to play more too.

A very good shmup. It's a pretty basic game, move with the stick and shoot with A, maybe B for a bomb every now and then, that's it. Honestly, this is a relatively standard game, not too much new to see here, but what this game does very, very well is being player friendly. Ikaruga this ain't. You have infinite lives, and earn cash while playing, which you can then use to buy upgrades. If you die, you keep your cash, and just start the stage over again, with your freshly purchased toys. I'm not trying to say that this game is easy exactly, a couple of the later stages can be pretty reflexes-intensive, but by and large, this game is very "casual" in nature. There is an endless mode as well, and it's pretty fun, but can start to get a little tedious after a while. I had a pretty good time with this one, and for free I got a decent amount of play time out of the deal. Worth checking out.
