What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Perfect Tides resonates deeply with players for its genuine, emotionally honest storytelling that explores youth, love, and discomfort in ways that linger long after finishing. The writing, art style, and character work are consistently praised, with many finding the game's portrayal of mundane moments and relationships surprisingly impactful. However, some players encounter frustrating gameplay issues like unresponsive click detection and obscure puzzle solutions that occasionally detract from the narrative experience.
some messy pixel art but top tier chracter writing great stuff!
This is a very very very good game!
OK. So me and a friend just finished this. I've been a fan of Gran's other work, Octopus Pie, for about 15 years now, so there's definitely a fair amount of bias from me. The worst aspects of the game are inventory puzzles or leaps of logic to advance the story. At most, I encountered them twice. If you're stuck, look up a walkthrough. I do appreciate bucking the adventure game narrative with most of the 'quests' being optional. The game is a time capsule of the late 1990s, a view of what it's like to grow up, and a memoir of sorts. Not of exact experiences, but feelings, and a path through life. It is unique, amongst what is on Steam, and it's worth playing.
Amazing adventure game. It's a bit of a miracle how faithfully it invokes classic staples of the genre while feeling very modern to play. The story is incredibly effective and serves as a perfect time capsule to the ICQ and MSN messenger era of early dial up internet.
good game is good
An enthralling story that explores love, youth, and discomfort in a way that sucks you in immediately. Perfect Tides is one of the most genuine feeling games I’ve ever played, and several moments hit me deeply in places that I wasn’t expecting. I want to tell everyone I know and meet about this game, and it will be sticking with me for a long, long time.
