About PERIMETER: Legate Edition
Players can transform the terrain to obtain energy, use as offensive tool or improve defenses while having to deal with hostile geological processes and entities known as 'Scourge'
Taking place in the Chains of Worlds, players assume the role of Legates, commanders of frames, overseeing base development and leading strategic battles. As the narrative unfolds, players embody different Legates from various factions, providing multiple perspectives on unfolding events.
Centuries after the Exodus, new coalitions emerge, challenging the ideals of the spirits. The Return coalition, led by the Committee of Truth, seeks to return to Earth from the root worlds, rejecting the spirits' dogma. Similarly, the Spongean Empire advocates for enhanced humans conquering the Psychosphere rather than marching towards promised utopias.
Players undertake missions for different factions, shaping the narrative of the Psychosphere's history over centuries. This extensive timeline makes it challenging to introduce human characters, resulting in a unique storytelling approach.
Perimeter offers a rich and complex narrative, although some elements were omitted from the international version of the game, leading to community efforts to translate and clarify the storyline. For the English-speaking audience
This edition includes the full version of the campaign, identical to the Russian one (the original edition included a truncated version). This campaign does not have English voice-over. You can restore the truncated campaign with voice-over by disabling the "True English campaign" mod in the "Mods" menu.

Oh wow, did this bring back some memories. I'm only 4 missions in but it's exactly like I remember it - I worked on this at Codies in the QA team that was assigned to it all the way back in early 2004 - 6 months of my life was spent on this. Good times! Still have the copy given to me when it went Gold somewhere. As an avid RTS fan at the time, I lapped this up. Such a unique take on the genre. The storyline is a bit wacky but you get the idea of things pretty quickly and the ability to react to what the game throws at you by switching your units by morphing them was such a niche idea - it works really well.2 found this helpful
Amazing game. Holds up super well in 2026, really unique. This version ships with a translation mod installed that subtitles the russian script to english, with some somewhat different plot elements from the dubbed version. Personally, I prefer the version of the story that came in the dubbed version, so I'd recommend disabling the mod. They're not that different, I just think the english version flows a lot better and cleaned up some plot holes.1 found this helpful

Good remaster for a good unique game. Updated to modern systems, bugfixes, balance tweaks, online multiplayer, and English version is not butchered, as it was previously, so story is finally intelligible for English-speaking people. Still holds up and worth playing in 2026, though an AI is lacking, and some campaign missions are just tedious and long because of their mechanics or AI. Also would be nice to get some UX improvements
