About Infested Planet

✦ AI summary

Lead a squad of 5 elite soldiers against waves of 100,000 mutating aliens in real-time tactical combat where you must constantly adapt your weapons and strategy to survive. With procedural maps, 21 human weapons, and 33 evolving alien mutations, every battle presents fresh tactical challenges that demand quick thinking and smart positioning.

Command a team of 5 elite soldiers against an alien horde of 100,000. Surrounded on all sides, you must outmaneuver and outsmart the enemy.

The enemy is closing in around you. Your soldiers are being flanked and the perimeter is slowly collapsing under a vicious alien assault. Robotic turrets will not last much longer. Just a little more and the bugs will swarm into your unprotected base. What are your orders?

You order your soldiers to fall back to a defensive chokepoint and rebuild your defenses. Sacrifice the forward squads to gain some extra time. Gather your team while equipping them with flamethrowers and laser guns. Start building a siege cannon for fire support. Then, while the aliens are busy, flank their main hives to destroy and capture them.

You have just pulled off a tactical victory - but there's no time to rest.

The aliens are constantly mutating. One moment your shotguns are ripping through the horde, the next the aliens grow hard, bullet-proof armour. You must adapt as well. Equip your team with stealth suits, miniguns, grenade launchers - your commands will decide the battle's outcome.

An excellent, smaller-scale RTS game. Each stage does a lot with a relatively small map. Choose you path to push in, fall back or backtrack at need, manage your often tight resource budget between static defenses, support facilities and more/upgraded marines. Combat reminds me a lot of Creeper World so it's in good company. Lots of push and pull against constant enemy pressure. The basic grubs are non-threat bullet bait but the enemy will soon mix it up with their own defensive/offensive upgrades that you must git gud to adapt to, you will eventually be punished if you cling to old tactics that served you well in the first 1/3 of the game. The story is ok but the gameplay is very much the highlight here. Sins, a few. I do not like how the camera can only be moved by pushing the mouse to the edge of the screen rather than WASD.. I was halfway into the campaign before I realized there was a lonely button in the top right where you could recruit extra marines (you always start with 5, you will rarely have more than 6 or 7 by the end of each map), I don't recall the tutorial mentioning it. All your new units/abilities/facilities are locked behind a post-battle currency exchan…
