Pet Cam is a short horror game that I found more interesting than I expected because it starts out feeling like an ordinary routine before slowly turning into something much darker. I play as Arya, a woman going through her usual life at home, while strange calls from her father become more and more disturbing. I liked how the game takes something familiar and gradually makes it feel unsafe without immediately explaining everything. The gameplay is mostly focused on exploration and completing everyday tasks. I move around Arya's house, interact with objects and pay attention to environmental details while the story slowly develops. I enjoyed this slower approach because it gives me time to notice changes in the surroundings instead of rushing from one scare to the next. The mysterious location later in the experience also gives the story a different atmosphere. The psychological side is probably the strongest part for me. The game uses Arya's routine and her memories to build the mystery, and I liked piecing together what her past has to do with the strange events happening around her. the pro ending defies any attempts to understand whats actually happening. ive never played a better more egregious example of a game that makes completely confusing and incomprehensible such a clear and obvious premise for a horror game. its kind of awe-inspiring.

"Pet Cam" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. This is your usual amateur asset flip where a bunch of Unreal Marketplace assets are mangled onto a first person horror adventure game blueprint. This time the assets were used to make a frankly bizarre horror story about a female protagonist named Arya who is trying to escape the terror of her own father while a shocking past unfold before her eyes... which involves her father ringing her up every night with bizarre messages then breaking into her home? Like, maybe the bizarre phone calls were something she should have dealt with a little earlier, you know?
