Photo Puzzles HD

I bought this and the developer’s other game, Puzzle Box, within a few days of their release, but wanted to play for a few hours at least before reviewing. Puzzle Box also contains a version of these photo puzzles, although only the full version here in Photo Puzzles HD allows players to create custom puzzles from their own photos. [u]Update[/u]: In response to a question I tried this out and it was very quick and easy. It took less than a minute to select one of my own photos and for it to be converted into a puzzle. The only file type recognised was jpg (possibly others too, but I only have jpg and png photos on this laptop). There are 105 slots provided for creating custom puzzles. * Family-friendly, suitable for even very young children * Nice, clean UI; easy to navigate and user-friendly * Vibrant colours, pleasant aesthetics * Daily puzzles, a new one for each day of the month Display options are windowed (small, medium, large) and full screen. The game initially launched in medium which I changed to full screen, and my choice is remembered each time the game is launched. This game is probably ment to be played in a slow pace. But here is how me and my buddy played it: You both select the same picture under the same circumstances (difficulty, game mode, etc.) and then you both race against each other. And on top of that: The UI is simple, yet effective for what it's supposed to do. Gift this game to a buddy of yours and race against each other. It's definitely worth the price.

Honestly, this is the first game I've gotten on Steam that was as good as promised. I've been playing for a few hours now and still feel like I'm just at the stage of sampling it. So far as I know all the promised images are there, though I didn't count every image or anything. You have three ways to play each puzzle. Swapping square tiles, rotating square tiles that are locked in place (no swapping), or swapping vertical slices of the puzzle. Each of these ways can be played at different difficulties too. You can have the music on or off, change out your mascot for one of four designs and so on. There's even a section to import your own photos. Overall most of the stock photos are really pretty and it does seem to still be updating with new daily puzzles, though those span a few days each. With the additional room to add what you'd like more of, say, kittens or sharks or whatever, there's plenty to keep you busy. I like that there is no DLC, since those can end up costing more than the main game. The music is soothing, though the music selections could be expanded a little. Overall it's a nice game and I'm enjoying myself so far.

Love it, very addictive. The pre-installed images are great. Being to make your own puzzles with uploaded images is great also! Plenty of puzzles and I only play expert mode. 10/10
