8/10 – I played this back in 1998 and returning to LA’s finest tactical chaos was a trip down memory lane. The missions are clunky, the AI has questionable life choices but the SWAT vibes are still there. Not as magical as my childhood memories… but still a fun ride with plenty of tactical mayhem. Follow for nostalgic gaming disasters, tactical disasters, and old classics that somehow still know how to cause chaos. 🚓💥✨ https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42602807-Osiris-Reviews/13 found this helpful
Good example of a once-notable game that has fallen into obscurity. It's a shame because elements like the music, the voice acting and art style are all fantastic, while the game's shortcomings such as its dated user interface, clunky unit micromanagement, lag and general bugginess are all things that could be solved with some quality of life improvements that will probably never happen. While it doesn't have a large fanbase dedicated to patching it for modern systems like some other classic titles, SWAT 2 is playable with some tweaks - I installed dgvoodoo2 into the game's main directory which acts like an emulated vintage graphics card, and that helped iron out a lot of the problems.1 found this helpful

Every mission emphasizes the importance of preparation, teamwork, and proper execution, creating a game that rewards patience and strategic thinking far more than quick reflexes. Despite its age, the core design still feels distinctive because it captures the responsibilities of leading specialized law enforcement units instead of simply participating in action-heavy encounters. One of the game's standout features is its dual-campaign structure, allowing players to experience events from both sides of the conflict. Commanding an elite SWAT team requires protecting civilians, securing dangerous locations, and resolving high-risk situations with precision, while leading a terrorist organization presents an entirely different set of objectives and tactical priorities. This approach greatly increases replay value, as each campaig…
Game wont run reliably on my PC unfortunately.
Much more of a different game than the later entries in the series. A little rigid but it runs fine it is a product of its time.
Classic. Solid isometric game from the good old days. The campaigns are great but you need to seek information to complete some of the missions. Back in the day people would play online and that was an interesting time in history.
