Players acknowledge this is a fun classic from 2006 that pioneered open-world sandbox gameplay with a large explorable world and vehicle variety, making it worthwhile for the low sale price. However, most agree it has not aged well, with repetitive missions, significant bugs (unresponsive vehicles, broken enemy AI), unfair difficulty spikes from overpowered enemy accuracy, and clunky mechanics that feel dated by modern standards, though some still find value in casual sandbox experimentation.
Meh We've come a long way in video game development, and it shows. Although it's fun in the beginning, it quickly becomes very very repetitive. Thankfully the main story doesn't depend on liberating regions, so I quickly skipped this part. The main missions often have bugs, be it vehicles that aren't moving, or an enemy running up a vertical slope, leaving you unable to kill him even though he's the main objective of the mission. It's also extremly frustrating when for instance the enemies have the highest shooting precision ever seen in history, leaving you 5 seconds before realising you spawn at the previous checkpoint, and the vehicles constantly ramming into you are a pain in the arse (although it does make sense, it's still very annoying). Overall it seems quite unbalanced when spawning ennemies and can make for a frustrating encounter when you don't have anything to kill vehicles and you're surrounded by helis and other tanks. The story's fine though For the price, I certainly wouldn't recommend1 found this helpful
I remember playing through this game on the 360 back when it came out. I liked it. Just tried to play through it again and this has NOT aged well.1 found this helpful
I purchased this game during the steam summer sale for $0.97. It is 20 years old at this point, so graphically it doesn't hold up as well as newer games, and the gameplay is a little clunky at times, but overall Just Cause 1 is a lot of fun to mess around in, especially if you are looking for a way to kill some time. I would say it did a lot of really cool things especially for the time it came out such as the sheer size of the world and the fact that you can use nearly every vehicle in the entire game. Would definitely recommend getting it if it's on sale as it will usually go for under a dollar. 10/10 looking forward to playing the second and third games in this series once I pour some more time into goofing off in this game.1 found this helpful
it was probably good in 2006, but it's 20261 found this helpful
