About PromptCrafter
Description
- Your ultimate goal is to craft the omega element.
- You start with the generate command, which creates an alpha element.
- You unlock new features from shop with buy command.
- You can create new elements from the existing ones using pack, merge and cut commands.
- Crafting recipes are hidden by default. When the elements of the recipes have been present in the storage, they become visible.
- You can create custom commands to automate your game. For example 'g = generate generage' creates command g, which executes generate-command twice.
- Crafting trees are procedurally generated.
Scoring
- Command Typing Speed - Faster typing speed yields a better score.
- Command Efficiency - A smaller command count yields a better score.
- Storage Efficiency - A smaller storage value yields a better score.

Combines typing and crafting. Nice addictive little game, simple rules but complex, since recipes are new every game. It should have more consideration !3 found this helpful
I was a bit disheartened after the "tutorial" part started to come to an end, as identifying the next hidden ingredient seemed like a daunting (and boring) trial and error task in a large search space. There's a small hint on column 3 though: # = the element is part of a hidden recipe element. This drastically lowers the search space. My (one so far) play through became much easier after spotting this, and the game became more about chaining commands to create stuff and less about brute forcing a lock. So I instead brute forced creating stuff, and got a score appropriate to my approach (quite low). I think I could improve on that with a more refined approach of defining meaningful commands and running them as needed. Having done one play-through I am tempted to try again on a slightly harder difficulty. The leaderboard looks a bit dead. (but I still am at the bottom of it.. my chance to be famous??) A big downside is that it feels like a missed trick that there's no deeper level to the game. There is no ability to write "meta" automations for yourself - this would be particularly interesting if kept in the strictly functional paradigm! A great programming game. The timing of the unlocking of the programming features is just right - it restricts freedom just enough so it doesn't feel arbitrary and lets you appreciate the new level of expressiveness when its provided. Indirectly, this game provides ideas about effective ways to add live coding to a project that make it more engaging. Great concept, well executed.2 found this helpful
I am not sure if this is a game because I am not offered any meaningful choices. They tell you what to do, then you do it, do it fast as possible. I got 3 of 17 achievements, up to Merging Lambda and was not given any choices. Even the the upgrade store your offers one item ata time. Game play so far was the game directs me to build resource a, build resource b, buy this (the store has 1 item) to help build faster, combine a + b to build c. Observe that I was not given any meaningful choices. Because my choices are do things that help me or refuse help I am performing a to-do list that someone game me. Is that a game?1 found this helpful
You... enter commands. Repeadedly. There is some macro-functionality but no real automation as far as I could tell. You basically just enter commands in this game. At least that's what I saw. Not fun. Not at all.1 found this helpful
It was a little bit of fun. Type the prompts a whole bunch of times to craft the arbitrary resource letters, and eventually create commands to do multiple commands at once. It's fun for a little bit but you run out of new things (game mechanics) super quick. Like another review mentioned, you have to trial-and-error guess the ingredients used to craft the next resource letter, but the (#) hint in the item storage can help narrow down what's possibly needed. I played through twice, once on the default settings and once on the 10-ingredient-end setting, and finished after 3 hours cumulative. Probably best to wait for a sale.
