About Puzzle Cube

Puzzle Cube was initially developed as a game jam entry for the theme "Life in 2 Dimensions". It provides a variation on the challenge of solving the 3x3 cube, by limiting the view of the 3D cube to a 2D perspective and limiting the controls somewhat. The cube can be manipulated to any of the possible configurations that a Rubik's Cube* can.

This current version of Puzzle Cube has been developed and is being published as a resume piece. Because of this, it will always be free! With enough interest, development will continue, adding more features to the game.

FEATURES

  • Online Leaderboards
  • Various Music, Background, & Cube Skin settings
  • The timer can be disabled (must return to the main menu to re-enable it)
  • Tutorial Video Link for learning to solve the cube
  • Keyboard & Controller support (tested w/XBox One Controller)

* Puzzle Cube is not associated with or endorsed by Rubik's Cube. This software does not infringe on any Rubik's Cube patents or trademarks. Copyright does not apply to the physical Rubik's Cube product.

Neat game for something that started as a game jam submission. The ability to change the background, cube color palette and music as well as the timed leaderboards are nice features. Free, unique spin on a "classic" cube.

"Puzzle Cube" is certainly one of the dumbest ideas to ever worsen Steam Direct, it's a Rubik's Cube. The patent expired in 2000, so this is legal. Also this is one of the worst Rubik's Cube ripoffs ever made, the developer couldn't even work out how to do 3D graphics so it's just a 2D cube and you can only see one face at a time. Imagine trying to be a game developer in 2023 and not knowing about 3D graphics or how they work. The ATI Rage came out in the mid 1990s, by the way, there's no excuse for this. What do you do in the game? It's a Rubik's Cube, but in 2D. The best thing to do with this game is uninstall it, quickly. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. The graphics aren't great, seriously just a 2D representation of one face of a Rubik's Cube puzzle. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contri…
