Puzzle Cube (2023)

Neat game for something that started as a game jam submission. The ability to change the background, cube color palette and music as well as the timed leaderboards are nice features. Free, unique spin on a "classic" cube.

Very fun and easy to use once you understand the controls.

"Puzzle Cube" is certainly one of the dumbest ideas to ever worsen Steam Direct, it's a Rubik's Cube. The patent expired in 2000, so this is legal. Also this is one of the worst Rubik's Cube ripoffs ever made, the developer couldn't even work out how to do 3D graphics so it's just a 2D cube and you can only see one face at a time. Imagine trying to be a game developer in 2023 and not knowing about 3D graphics or how they work. The ATI Rage came out in the mid 1990s, by the way, there's no excuse for this. What do you do in the game? It's a Rubik's Cube, but in 2D. The best thing to do with this game is uninstall it, quickly. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers.
