Qajary Cat

So I bought this game cuz I wanna support Iranian games and see what's out there. Also, I love cats ahahaha. Brief Review Art: 10/10!!! Soundtrack: 8/10 Sound Effects/VA: 6/10 Plot/Script: 7.5/10 Gameplay: 4/10 Pros: Game is absolutely beautiful (I ended up screenshotting nearly every new scene). It mixes traditional paisley, cartoony character design, Persian calligraphy linework, with stark B&W mixed with occasional splashes of bright colour. Whoever the artist is, they are a god and they made this game. The cat content didn't disappoint, either. And apparently Babri Khan (the cat protagonist) was a real cat in the Qajar palace! Anyway, the soundtrack is traditional Persian stringed instruments--good, but very repetitive cuz it was on a loop. I found the sense of humour really amazing: sometimes it was just childish picture book fun, other times it made subtle passing political commentaries on the Iranian economy or the Persian monarchy. These were blended almost seamlessly so it didn't seem at all jarring but a fun surprise. I can't comment on whether these political jokes are understandable to non-Iranians or not. This would be a lovely game if it wasn't full of glitches and vagueness. Wasted my money. Better listen to some classical Iranian music, instead lol
