The Cat and the Coup is one of those games that feels more like a short interactive history lesson than a normal game, and I actually like that about it. I play as the cat of Mohammad Mossadegh, the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran, and follow important moments leading up to the 1953 coup that removed him from power. Instead of controlling Mossadegh directly, I am basically causing small disturbances around him by knocking things over, moving papers around and scratching him. It sounds silly, but that strange idea works surprisingly well with the serious subject. The art is easily the part that stands out most to me. The whole game is built around a style inspired by Persian miniature paintings, with bright colours, detailed patterns and flat looking scenes that make everything feel like a moving storybook. I really like how different it looks from most games about historical events. It gives the game its own identity straight away, and the unusual contrast between the beautiful artwork and the serious subject matter makes the scenes stick in my mind. beautiful and stunning artpiece

A very interesting piece of work with very nice Persian art style that tells a brief history about the 1953 coup. I just wish it gave more details of the events, maybe more history about Mossadegh's rule and the events following the coup that led up to the revolution of 1979.
