It's touching, nuanced, and mechanically innovative in a good way. The difficulty settings are good and allow you the experience you want - easy is easy and torment is hard. the progression is designed to be very flexible and considered. it's funny and serious and balances them well. core and even many ancillary characters are deep and their actions and loyalties are unexpected. It's not a shallow power fantasy, your role and your actions are deeply constrained by necessity even as you are given great power and responsibility. It has very heartfelt, genuine things to say about power, legacy, obligation, the roles we are built for and find ourselves in, the limits of good intentions. It ends well, and never perfectly. There is real and not directly spoken-of doubt about any of your choices. You are troubled by coercion, power, legacy, and more, not melodramatically but in the deeper, banal way that people are. The series epilogue is what it should be, a familiar but meaningfully different experience from the main game that doesn't go on too long and ends it well. I felt things that will stick with me. I'm sad the series wasn't able to be completed in its original vision as a trilogy…

Loading this up to play the 2026 epilogue is reminding me that QW2 was one of the better games from spiderweb. It's a shame the sales were so bad; the epilogue is very good and seems like it was written years ago as a standalone QW3 that would have ended the trilogy. In this form it plays like one of the old Blades of Avernum modules, a 4 hour mini adventure with a few towns and dungeons.

Been buying Spiderweb's games since the very first one. This game continues the tradition.

I just finished Part 3. Amazing game, wonderful story. This series was a lot less intense than Avernum series. But it was fun! I love it. Great story, wonderful characters. I hated Sutter at first, but in part 3, he was humbled and I like that. Delia was just great! The Queen was very competent and wonderful. Although I was not a very good child of hers, she was wonderful, I was sad when she crossed over like that. I wanted to flog the doctor for his incompetence. I really wanted The Queen Sharyn III to stay alive so someday in the future in some cross world thing, she could marry Red Beard of Black Fortress and have beautiful babies. A more competent me. I like how in the end she was okay of me being Queen/King. I really expected she would not since I was rotten. Sutter was mad, but Delia was just fine. I love the different endings. Tip, during Part two, the first part. Remember to give your main character the good items because starting part 3. She/He will just to go through part 3 with what she has on her. Fantastic story, fun game, I highly recommend it.

Not one of Spiderweb's best, but still a good retro RPG
