About R2V Rev to Vertex

“Rev to Vertex” (R2V) Early Access is developing by “Plutonization,” a small development team led by virtual-to-reality Macau Grand Prix racers in Hong Kong. R2V is a new racing game platform set in the unexplored hills and streets of Hong Kong.

R2V, unlike any rally or racing circuit competition, the champion doesn't win by crossing a finish line. Instead, competitors engage in their hometown public roads, highway and touge battle rivalling street racers on the fly. Speed through hill climbs and street tags. Distance yourself until your tail light vanishes from your opponent to claim victory. R2V’s vast collection of cars and the ability for players to fully set-up, modify and customize their vehicles. You will always ride with style and finesse.

The game brings reality into your monitors by taking geospatial data of the road as the most accurate reference, tracing every spec of reality and creating the racing tracks simulating our world. The game explores to give racing fans fresh and exciting tracks. R2V’s maps are currently set in Hong Kong at release and expand across the ocean on future updates. The Augest Early Access version will allow players to access Route Twisk and Tolo Harbour in different type of training mission modes, unlock more layouts and cars in Sector Tutorial will allow you to freely choose your combinations of tracks and cars in Free Play Mode.

I have tried all the methods and watched all the tutorial videos on how to set up both the controller and the wheel, but I still cannot use my Xbox controller or my G29 wheel to play this game. When I use the wheel, the car automatically moves forward and turns right without any input. When I try to set up my brake and throttle, both are detected on the same Y-axis during axis calibration. When I switch to my Xbox controller, the right/left joystick functions correctly, but the throttle and brake do not work. Sometimes the situation changes, and not all buttons function properly together at the same time. Please fix this issue promptly. As a Hong Konger, I want to support this game, but I am quite disappointed. I just need a simple setup, yet I cannot even drive a car in the game right now.

I thought people were exaggerating in the reviews, but this thing really is even barely a tech demo at the current state of affairs. A shame, it looks and feels promising, but it’s far from even being an early access game, as you basically don’t really get access to anything playable at the current state. I don’t think I’ve ever refunded anything on Steam before, I did refund this though. Should the devs ever drop an update that actually gives access to something playable, I may come back to it, for now it’s — unfortunately — a hard pass.

Controls is really problematic. Steering drifts to the left or right by itself even at the start of the game. Really hard to set up with keyboard to play. Very disappointing despite the detail and quality of the map being impressive. What a pity.
