Reach to Tsukuyomi

This review hurts a bit to write, but please understand this is coming from someone who waited five years for this game to release after discovering it. I wish I didn't have to choose between "recommended" and "not recommended" for the big header of this review, as both of them come with a resounding ", but...". I'm going with not recommended for the following reasons: [hr][/hr] 1. The game is far too short. The dev said expected clear time is about an hour, but 20 minutes is more realistic. This is not a bad thing in and of itself, but for how long the game was in development (7 years), I was expecting more content. Though I do sympathize with the dev if life kept getting in the way. 2. The bosses are too simplistic. This is a weird one because each boss does have a good variety of attacks, but they don't get much of an opportunity to use them before the fight is over. This is most easily noticed on the boss of stage 3, who does not damage you for standing directly underneath him and unleashing an endless stream of attacks to kill him quickly. His melee attacks assume you're always in front of him, which allows you to continue attacking to end the fight even faster. The bos…

A short 2D action platformer. It was a little easy, but I still had fun playing it. The game features really nice pixel art, and the animations are quite smooth. The controls were great, and so was the music. If you're looking for a short action platformer, I recommend giving this game a try.

A fun and breezy action platformer! Great pixel art and a good use of a limited moveset, with some good enemy variety. A little on the easy side but a worthwhile experience nonetheless!

Road to Tsukuyomi is a short, cute pixel art platformer with genuinely charming animations and satisfying sword hits. Traversal mixes basic combat with light puzzles that briefly break up the monotony, and visually the game often looks like a lost SNES gem. Unfortunately, it never explains who you are or why you’re fighting, offering no story hook beyond the store-page blurb about saving a village from yokai. Difficulty is extremely low thanks to generous healing, telegraphed attacks, and simple bosses, making the 30-minute runtime feel forgettable despite one absurdly designed “chest” boss.
