Red is Lava is a simple but pretty challenging platformer where you control a cube that changes colour every time you jump. Your goal is to get through the levels without touching the wrong colour or the deadly red platforms. The main idea is really simple, but the game can get difficult quite quickly. Every jump matters because your colour changes each time, so you have to think about where you are going before you make your next move. There are 64 levels to play through, with each level adding more obstacles and making things harder. The levels are short, so when you die you can quickly try again without having to wait around. The controls are also quite simple. There are no complicated abilities to learn, so most of the challenge comes from timing your jumps and getting used to how the colour system works. I like the neon style too. The bright colours make the platforms easy to see and fit the simple arcade style of the game. It also gives the game a clean look without having too much going on.
