✦ AI summary

Players praise Reignfall as an ambitious and affordable hybrid strategy-RPG with solid mechanics, enjoyable art direction, and fun third-person hero combat that sets it apart from traditional RTS games. However, they consistently criticize poor game balance with several useless buildings and units alongside overpowered alternatives, frustratingly high difficulty spikes even on medium settings, clunky combat that can leave players stunlocked, and a general sense that the game needed more polish and final development refinement to reach its potential.

I was close to giving it a thumbs up because this game has a lot of strengths for what you are paying but overall it looks like the developer didn't give this game the final push that it needed. The balance is somewhat poor, you have buildings which are fairly useless like the fishing spot, apple orchard, hop production line. The difficulty is high on medium even after learning to play. I'm having more trouble in this game than mid game Stronghold. Enemies appear to slowly get stronger without any indication which leads to frustration as your expectations are subverted. The action gameplay is slightly frustrating and easy to get stunlocked. Not crazy about the voice acting. On the positive side, the mechanics all work as they should for a Stronghold type game. The art direction has some nice touches which set it apart from other indie titles. Gaining bonuses for your next run rougelike-style helps distinguish the game from other Stronghold type RTSs. If you think that it looks neat then its worth five bucks. I gave it a thumbs down because I wish the developer took this game to the next level. There's a solid foundation for a great game here but its undertuned as is.

Great game if you are into rouge like strategy games. A little bit of balancing might be beneficial as some of your available units are just plain waste of money and some are too good for their price. Namely, ranged units should be evaded at all cost. Third person control of your heroes are a must to win efficiently.

This here is an ambitious combination of very different genres, jumping from strategy / city builder to 3rd person hero while fighting wave after wave of enemy attackers. It's easy and simple to play after understanding the basics. While the combat can feel a bit clunky sometimes, it doesn't detract from the immersion and the fun of joining the battles in person instead of just watching from a far away camera.

Reignfall is an ambitious entry into the real-time strategy and RPG hybrid genre, developed with a clear passion for blending deep tactical combat with rich character progression and a sprawling narrative. The game offers a unique twist on traditional RTS gameplay by emphasizing hero-driven battles within large-scale conflicts, encouraging players to carefully manage both individual units and overarching strategies. From its sprawling campaign to its detailed customization systems, Reignfall aims to provide an experience that satisfies both strategy enthusiasts and RPG fans looking for meaningful progression. At its foundation, Reignfall impresses with its setting and story. The game unfolds in a high-fantasy world torn apart by political intrigue, ancient magic, and brutal warfare. Players assume control of a faction struggling to reclaim dominance amid chaos, and the narrative explores themes of loyalty, power, and sacrifice through well-written characters and cutscenes. Unlike many RTS games that lean heavily on mechanics over story, Reignfall integrates its lore seamlessly into gameplay, making every mission feel like a piece of a larger saga rather than just a standalone chal…
