About Legacy of Sin: Ill-Boding

Legacy of Sin: Ill-Boding is a hybrid city-building and tower defense game that seamlessly blends massive real-time battles with turn-based management of your city and lands. Set in a Renaissance world devastated by a magical apocalypse, humanity's few remaining survivors retreat before the relentless onslaught of orcish hordes. The last kingdom rallies around Aldrick, a mercenary leader promoted to lord by the deaths of all the nobles he used to serve. At the head of the last bastion of humanity, it's his role to rally the survivors, defend against the hordes, and turn a sea of ruins into the heart of a new empire.
 • Hybrid Gameplay: Experience a seamless fusion of city-building, real-time tactics, and route defense, combining strategic depth with fast-paced action. Lead an army of soldiers fighting for survival, earning experience through victories to unlock powerful upgrades and specialized battlefield abilities. As both ruler and commander, balance defense, expansion, and resource management to keep the remnants of humanity alive and the flame of human civilization alight!
 • Fortress Management: Humanity's last hope starts out as little more than a collection of burned-out houses around a crumbling castle. Carefully rebuild the infrastructure, restart agriculture and industry to keep everyone fed and equipped, and turn a group of rag-tag survivors and shell-shocked mercenaries into a well-organized army to stop the orcish onslaught!
 • Branching Developments: Research, customizable loadouts, and limited resources mean tough choices. Do you prioritize expanding your city and fortress, defending it with expendable, cheap soldiers, risking that they would be overwhelmed by higher-level foes? Or develop a group of heroic units ripped straight from a fantasy novel - but few, allowing orcs to slip through and slaughter?
 • Unique Art Style: Inspired by classic 90s cartoons, Legacy of Sin: Ill-boding features hand-drawn animations and environments, based on in-depth research into Renaissance weapons, clothing, fighting techniques and more!
 • Fantasy Apocalypse: What would happen if Renaissance Europe was almost rubbed out by a magical calamity? How would the survivors deal with the rampaging hordes of orcs and other monsters? Would they manage to survive or perish in the fallout of the apocalypse?
Legacy of Sin: Ill-Boding is the next chapter in the Legacy of Sin series, a project that has been years in the making. This game represents the culmination of our vision for a strategy-driven, immersive experience that began with the first game in the series. Many of the ideas you’ll experience in Ill-Boding were conceived during the development of our earlier titles. Each chapter in the Legacy of Sin series explores a unique story and gameplay style, and Ill-Boding is no exception. With its blend of city-building, tower defense, and narrative depth, this game offers a fresh take on our core themes of survival, leadership, and resilience in a world on the brink of collapse.Realizing this project has been a dream come true for our team. Every element—art, gameplay, and design—was crafted with meticulous care, dedication, and countless hours of effort. We hope Ill-Boding becomes a lasting experience for players and an exciting continuation of the Legacy of Sin series.Thank you for supporting us on this journey. Got 15 minutes in, built a farm, trained 2 guys, then got stuck with no clue what to do next. Voice acting sounds like AI after a rough night out. Love the concept, hate the execution (for now). Hope they patch this mess. 🧱🤖🗺️ Follow my curator page for more snowy thrones and royal regrets! https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42602807-Osiris-Reviews/

It's a good game, I had fun, and it seems to have a lot of content and interesting mechanics. It's not a hand-holding game that tells you step by step what to do. you have to read a lot and build your city based on what you think is most worthwhile. Now that I’ve built everything the wrong way, I’ll probably start a new game to construct the buildings I find more efficient and achieve a better economy. One downside is that the loading screen takes quite a while on my PC. The first time it hits 89%, the game freezes for a moment, which is really annoying, so I imagine weaker PCs might have some trouble. Still, I recommend the game, with those caveats. Another interesting thing is the voice acting I played it in Spanish and was surprised the game is fully dubbed.
The buggiest game I have ever played.

Pros
-Character Design and Battle Animation
Cons
-If you progress build and avoid starvation, you will not progress anymore and it will be a 24/7 battles and upgrades. -There is no proper "click to see the full dialogue" button, you need to wait several seconds to be able to read the dialogue as it slowly reveals itself. -The bugs appear if you click too fast, you need to be super slow to play this game. -The construction bug is still there. -Units in Battles have a slow react time or has a delay while controlling them. Overall, do not buy this game. If you want to, wait until it is 50 to 90% off.

Legacy of Sin: Ill-Boding offers a unique fusion of city-building strategy and tower defense gameplay, combining real-time large-scale battles with methodical, turn-based management of your settlements and territories. Set against the backdrop of a Renaissance-era world ravaged by a catastrophic magical disaster, the remnants of humanity are pushed to the brink by relentless waves of invading orc armies. In this desperate time, Aldrick, a former mercenary who rises to lordship following the demise of the noble class he once served, becomes the last hope for survival. As the leader of humanity’s final stronghold, it falls upon him to unite scattered survivors, fortify defenses against the encroaching orcish forces, and rebuild a shattered land into the foundation of a new empire. Rating: 7/10

I liked the game, the concept is really good! But it still has some bugs. It's not possible to unlock the Knight's last ability, so you can't progress with him or unlock two achievements: The Impenetrable Defense and Professional Army. Another bug that ruins the experience: when you're attacked at your base and successfully defend it, the enemy symbol doesn't disappear. This causes the base defense to repeat infinitely. It's necessary to let the day pass and allow the enemy to attack the base again in order to progress and get out of the bug.
