About Relic Arena

✦ AI summary

Relic Arena is a free-to-play multiplayer autobattler where you build heroes by equipping historical Relics onto units to craft powerful combos each round. With 85+ Relics offering unique abilities and upgrade paths, plus eccentric Leaders like Vlad the Impaler and Karl Marx with game-breaking powers, every match plays differently based on your strategic choices.

Relic Arena is a free-to-play multiplayer autobattler from the unhinged minds of Dota legends SUNSfan and Jenkins. Build your own heroes, craft insane combos, and rewrite history with style!Unlike other autobattlers, units are free—you just buy the spells. Each round, grab historical Relics from the shop and slap them onto any unit you want. Every Relic provides unique abilities and upgrade paths, letting you craft deadly combos on the fly. With 85+ Relics and 3 upgrade paths each, no two games will ever be alike.Leaders don’t just tweak the game—they rewrite it. Want to destroy your enemy from the inside out? Try Vlad the Impaler. Want to master the economy? Pick Karl Marx. Or are you just hungry for bananas? Then Harambe is the leader for you! Every Leader has a unique ability that can be leveled up, unlocking game-breaking powers.
Buying the same Relic again powers it up—unlocking Super Upgrades. Max it out, and you’ll get a Juicy Upgrade: a devastating power spike that is so strong, it can end the game outright. But you will have to choose carefully what you invest gold in. Go all-in on one Relic? Spread your gold between many Relics? Level your leader? The right call could win you the game… or cost you everything.

✦ AI summary

Relic Arena receives mixed feedback from players, with most agreeing the game is fun and addictive once you push through an overly gated tutorial and steep learning curve about which leader and relic combinations are meta. The main complaints center on excessive progression gating, a tedious onboarding experience, and the feeling that winning depends heavily on knowing specific broken item combos rather than skillful play. Players seem to feel the game is worth playing if you can tolerate the early friction, though opinions are split on whether it's worth the initial time investment.

40/100 boring, gated, waste of time Even the tutorial is literally gating you every 2 steps. First Forum post I read was by a veteran -- proves the impression: "... After a while of playing, you'll start to see that there are specific item carry combos that every high rank player runs. Many of these combos are leader specific. You can use your match history to look at the builds that high-rank/top 3 players are forcing, and you'll start to notice trends. Or just watch streams. Winning is simply about knowing which leaders and relic combos are the most broken at any given time, which changes every patch. The relic banning system is supposed to prevent this in theory, but there are always specific substitutions that will work, and it's unlikely every substitution will be banned. When I realized this, it really sucked the fun out of the game for me because I used to think it was different from the other autobattlers like TFT, but it's really not. The only difference is there currently are no websites for Relic Arena that tell you what the winning builds are: the top ranked players simply know them and spam them every game. Despite the game trying to sell you this fantasy of craf…

If you can get past the tutorial which is a bit of a slog, (would be better to have a normal match with hints maybe, it's very point and click as is) it's an excellent game and by far the best I've played in the genre.
