This is an odd one. I like the idea of mixing Crypt of the Necrodancer with a Survivors game. The characters have fun abilities. The gameplay itself is lacking though. As a rhythm game, it's too forgiving. It's really easy to have the game tell you that you got a 100+ perfect combo even if it doesn't sound right or you are slightly off beat. As a survivors game, it's too easy. You can close your eyes and press random directions slightly on beat to pass most levels. Each run consists of 10-12 waves that last 30-45 seconds each, so even when you're getting into the groove of a level, it's over pretty quickly. Most of the meta progression is VN novel/lore stuff that isn't explained. What's an echo? Why am I unlocking them? With some tuning, this could be pretty cool, but it doesn't really succeed at either of the genres it's combining, so I won't recommend it.

There are a lot of different musicians to choose from, and each changes the gameplay style. Additionally, you are given other band members during the run who act as your additional weapons. The most charming part is that the game is stylized to the beat of the music that's running, and adding band members will add a new instrument to the music. Choosing your main musician & their style of gameplay, finding good combos with the band members, and purchasing the correct buffs is the key to success as you go through a limited amount of timed rounds. A rhythm game that let's you hop in and out for a quick run that's guaranteed to provide some progression even with failure. All of the characters I've tried have had a unique enough move-set that I've wanted to try more runs with them, and the slow character details that unlock as you play helps to provide more investment in the secondary characters that in other games would just exist fully in the background, or just as other power ups. I'll plan to keep coming back to solve the mystery of why the music went away.

[h1]Its just sort of okay, I can't recommend because the [b]game feels very unfinished.[/b][/h1] if you can get past a lot of the shortcomings which i feel lots of people wont be able to pass up.
