The gameplay is like Stepmania with only 3 buttons, mostly only 2, but still gets very challenging! The story is about healthy vegetables fighting invading sweets. The dialogues are mostly cringe humor, very weird and often have movie/tv references for some reason. Even though the presentation is for kids the characters behave not family friendly quite often. The king doesn't care about his daughter, forgets that she exists the whole time and didn't care if she is dead at one point. Even our hero protagonist at one point is killing sweets characters even though they're not attacking him. Many characters behave unusual like they're crazy and made me feel uncomfortable. The music tracks are cool and vary the rhythm in good ways. Recommended if you like rhythm games!

It would be an incredible rythm game if it werent for the small details that really hit you - The keybinds are a disaster, theres no way to disable vibration on controller, and it has geometry dash mindset of "each level needs to be harder than the last" - Not even having 2 or 3 of each difficulty so you can learn the controls better or get good at the game. Ewww... Even by turning off "game rumble" in steam to turn off the vibration does absoloutely nothing, either this game bypasses that setting, or the setting is useless. As an autistic person, I either have to replay the levels I already have to learn the keybinds better, because theres 1 song per difficulty if you want to keep to the story and not start the prequel, or I have to handle a vibrator going off like im a single woman on a tuesday night. It is worth it, I think everybody should try it at least once if you really are obsessed with rythm games like I am, and I wont be refunding it due to how cheap it is, but im not going to advertise or tell anybody else to go out of their way to buy it, even if its on sale - not until there are some updates.

[Runs without issues through Proton] What a short and sweet (or savory) little gem. One of my favorite rhythm games ever, if only for how much personality it has. Having only 3 buttons works suprisingly well because the maps focus more on interesting rhythms than on button patterns. The music in this games is phenomenal. Almost every level had me smiling wide when the beat dropped, and often throughout the track with the musical (and visual) jokes. The scoring system is interesting in how it deviates from the norm in rhythm games: instead of a Full Combo mechanic, you're rewarded for a "high" combo and scores separately. I often mess up right at the end of maps on most rhythm games, Rhythm Sprout doesn't have me do over the whole thing. Once you get to the high combo threshold, you'll have probably mastered the track anyway. I think I'll come back to this game to get the final discs (Score + Combo Star), if only to listen to the music again (that's been stuck in my head from the very first minute of playing the game).

Rhythm sprout is a very relaxed, short, humorous, chart based rhythm game. The story along with the gameplay is simple yet satisfying, while the plot twists and associated music styles surprise you would you least expect it. I would say it is well worth its price tag, especially on sale, but I do have a few qualms with it. While I found the single-track idea interesting at first, it is essentially three different tracks, considering there are three different notes you have to press. I think I would have preferred if those tracks were separated more clearly, because it would reduce some of the visual clutter. I think that the scrolling lane also felt kind of uninteresting, especially in comparison to the visual aspect of other rhythm games like Rhythm Heaven and Bits and Bops. I would say that the story, along with the boss battles and occasional enemies, did help to mitigate that though. I also didn't enjoy the soundtrack all that much, but that comes down to personal preference. It focuses on electronic up-beat music, with a mix of lo-fi and high-energy songs. The nature of the music left me feeling like some of the rhythms were wild and unpredictable, and weren't too …
