About RiffTrax: The Game

RiffTrax: The Game features the stars of the Emmy-nominated, Peabody Award-winning show “Mystery Science Theater 3000”. Comedians Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett have been bringing their comedic running MST3K-type commentary to movies of all kinds for over 15 years - and now’s your chance to riff along with them! Gather your friends and see if you can write the best jokes for some of the worst bits of what can loosely be called "cinema". Do you have what it takes to be the next movie riffing genius?

Over 500 movie clips (and counting) from RiffTrax classics such as “Rollergator”, “Attack Of The Super Monsters”, and “Plan 9 From Outer Space”!
Featuring two exciting ways to play! Write your own riff and watch your comedy genius come to life via text-to-speech. Or leave it to the pros and choose from thousands of expertly crafted riffs from the RiffTrax team.

Play head-to-head with up to 6 players using any internet connected device as controller. An additional 12 audience members can also play along.

Play locally or battle riffers from around the world with online multiplayer matchmaking. Supports cross play and features in-game voice chat.

Streamers, get your entire chat in on the action with Twitch integration. Let your chat vote, choose clips, or even play along!

✦ AI summary

Players praise this as an excellent online party game that captures the fun of games like Jackbox with simpler, more genuine humor based on movie and TV clip riffing. The strong modding support and developer encouragement for custom content creation are major selling points, allowing players to inject their own clips and build community-created versions. While most reviews are enthusiastically positive about the core experience and party game appeal, one reviewer notes that creating custom content requires additional subtitle software, which could be a minor barrier for some users.

I recommend it not only for its great fun as an online party game, but also for its unlimited potential for modding, meaning you can easily replace the video clips with your own very easily, and have people riff on your own handpicked custom clips!* The developers of this game even ENCOURAGE this sort of modding, and include a helpful tutorial for how to include your own clips in the game's file directory! HUGE RECOMMEND for anyone wanting to get together with online friends during a stream or video call and just goof around making fun of movies and shows, and a HUGE RECOMMEND for the game modding community! The modding community has potential to grow about as big as Rivals of Aether's. *Although with a little caveat: subtitling software is required to make SRT subtitle files to even include riff space easily, marked and timed with a "[Insert Riff Here]", otherwise it won't work. Thankfully that isn't too big of an issue, since Aegisub is free and easy to use for this purpose.

Very fun way to spend a half hour during a game night! Similar to Jackbox but way simpler and doesn't throw super low level bit comedy at you every 15 seconds. The movie clips it plays are very random and funny ones to fill in the blank. Highly recommended.
