The best way I can summarize this game, is "Oh, nevermind.." I gave this game way too much credit going in.. I see a steel helmet, defense percentages, and I think "Oh, that's cool, craftable armor" Nope.. Literally only just helmets.. No shields, body armor, just helmets. I see a gold helmet after the iron one, and I think "Oh, armor tiers, alright, so there's progression" Nope.. That's all you get. 2 progression tiers. Iron, and gold. (And maybe stone if you count it) I notice my character suddenly having wierd hallucinations in the middle of the night, and hearing giggling and music. I think "Oh crap, there's a sleep mechanic isn't there, this is probably a debuff-effect from not sleeping, I better craft a bed!" Nope.. There is no sleep mechanic in fact, the bed just vaguely regens energy when you sit in it at night. I see the final-tier weapon called "Cloud sword", and I think "Oh cool, that's a decent name for a high-damage weapon, I wonder if there's some lore behind it or if it's cloud-themed." Nope.. It's literally just cloud's sword.. Cloud strife's buster sword, from final fantasy 7. I see farming mechanics, with growable plants, and a hoe. I think "Oh, okay, so i…

It's kind of mediocre, but still fun for a couple hours. I can't recommend it, however, because it always crashes my game when I try to load a save.

Rogue Harvest is an abandoned early access 2D retro pixel top down JRPG looking survival/crafting/mining game with no content and no clear objective, that will never be completed and only exists on Steam as a cash grab to scam gamers into buying an incomplete and abandoned product. The idea is fine, survival/crafting games are popular, but that doesn't mean this is worth a moment of your time, it's garbage. The game was abandoned roughly a year prior to the "launch" on Steam and hasn't been updated in almost 7 years. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any notification or admission of failure from the developer. The game will never be completed. Despite not being in Steam Early Access (where this arguably belongs), the game is missing features and is apparently incomplete. Due to the lack of meaningful progress from the developer, it's unlikely the game will be completed at all, yet the developers reprehensively have their hand out for money for an incomplete game. This is a good reason for gamers to avoid this. It's unclear why the developer set out to mislead gamers by exiting Early Access without finishing the game, but it's evidently inco…

Screw this game. I tried this game a long time ago...almost 10 years ago, and found it poor. Since then it has limped out of early access. Ignoring the lack of customisation options a second, basically everything about this game is very basic. The ‘tutorial’, to charitably call it that, is a slideshow presentation that features an outdated UI with text written pointing at stuff. But it was the developer’s first game, so I’m not too bothered by that. What I am bothered by is the insanely poor control you have over your character. This is an isometric crafty, base-buildy, survive the nighty kinda game. You move about with WASD or the mouse and use the mouse to try and break terrain, collect resources, and fight. I say try. The thing your character chooses to break seems only tangentially connected to where your mouse is. Multiple times I broke things hidden INSIDE terrain, and frequently broke terrain above my character when my mouse was far to the right. Precision is a thing that happens in other games. If you misplace one wall, you’re gonna have to smash down five walls to try again. As for the movement... I honestly didn’t know simple WASD movement controls could be this messed u…

I wanted to come back to this in 2024 to see if ANY updates were present almost a decade ago. Turns out the game was abandoned in 2016. I don't remember buying it for very much, but it feels more like a phone game than something for the computer. IF this game was just for the phone, it would be average. But for someone who likes survival and base building, this is too basic to be engaging.

Playtime: 25 minutes Review This is basically what you would expect it to be. A wonky mess that lacks any kind of balance or even a properly explanation of how things work. You're going to gather some resources, build some fences and then wonder how to get silk for a bed. Then you nearly burn to death because apparently the campfire is a deathtrap. Finally, while you're out a ridiculously powerful monster will chase you down and kill you - deleting all your progress. Yes, that's right. It's a roguelike survival game with permadeath. Even the developer realised what a dumb idea it was and gave up on it.
