Ronny's Climb

I playtested their upcoming game Dragon Dragon Fire Fire earlier and found this release from the same Dev interesting, so I bought it and played today. It’s a very cute 2D climbing platformer with several talking animals and a few easy enemies. Nice relaxing game after a busy day. The jumping is responsive and of the right height, the dash covers a good distance. The platforms are well designed too, no crazy precision jumps and could still be engaging at a few places and fun. Also you don’t need to collect every single gem to get the reward at the end of a level, just enough of them. A nice design choice, so players aren’t forced to search every corner of the map. The game can be completed in less than an hour, by the end it gave me a bit of an A Short Hike feeling. Honestly it’s a lovely little game, it deserves more attention. Positives: Small and simple, but very organized. A game for all ages. Cute graphics in-game, I could tell much of the art was made with care, given the pixel limits. Lots of aspects and achievements give depth in stage replayability. I enjoyed all the hidden bonuses and the step up in difficulty there. For the vast majority of time everything felt fair and my time did not feel wasted. Mixed: Music had some very great tracks that I kept returning to, but others were forgettable. The game is creatively inert, but what it does, it does well. Negatives: I could see this game expanded, such as with characters, worldbuilding, and narrative, which were technically there, but very minimal, no named characters beyond the title. Even Ronny is a mystery to me. It feels like a waste. Overall: They did good for such a small team with a free game engine, congrats to them. A good portfolio project. This feels like a stepping stone to bigger things. I'm glad to contribute to it as a customer.

A very cute game with a lot of cute little critters. It's pretty short, only 6 levels, but it makes up for it in the amount of extra challenges added due to the achievements. The movement starts very limited, but it gradually builds up as you unlock more abilities. The dash is especially fun, since you can also dash on the floor. I also really appreciate that it's pixel perfect. Controller support is also good.

This is a cute game! A short, but sweet platform game that's not completely and utterly punishing like newer games on the market. The artwork well done. It's got a good story about it; a climbing competition. It's a chill play-at-your-own-pace game with cute characters!

It was not any dark to begin with 3) How I am seeing anything in the darkness withot a lantern or torch? Maybe give me that?
