✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the core concept of managing a crew and salvaging wrecks with an upgrade loop, but consistently criticize the execution as incomplete and frustrating. Common complaints include poor balance that forces quick escapes rather than meaningful salvage, clunky controls and UI, resource scarcity that limits progression, and a lack of useful loot—making runs feel tedious rather than rewarding. Some players find it enjoyable for a few hours once they adjust to the mechanics, though most feel the game needs significant polish and fixes to deliver on its promising premise.

I definitely didn't feel like a SPACE salvager in this game but more like a hobo in a zombie apocalypse, basically you have very little time before your enemies spawn in enormous quantities and swarm you, killing your whole crew. This game is about taking just a small amount of garbage from the spaceship you board and legging it. Which makes absolutely no sense if you think about it... Why would anyone space travel just to grab some garbage from someone else's drawer to sell later? And why would any space merchant want to buy said garbage? This game fails at making you feel like a space salvager and fails at making the game challenging in a non-boring and non-annoying way.

"Salvagers" is an overambitious top down action game where you manage a crew of sci-fi space scrappers and salvage wrecks. Sounds like a great idea but the implementation here is utter garbage tier. It's 2025, for crying out loud. What do you do in the game? It's an RNG heavy game where you do "runs", manage your crew, upgrade your gear and so on... the concept is appealing, the implementation is a massive deterrent. Despite not being in Early Access, it's obvious this is an incomplete product. Developers have an obligation to deliver complete, not partially done products to gamers, that shouldn't be controversial. Whatever the excuses may be, it does no service to gamers for incomplete products polluting Steam like this. It makes it harder for gamers to find complete games, and it makes it harder for ethical developers who do the right thing to find their audience. The graphics here are particularly awful, hideously lazy, badly done pixelcrap "art" and lazy text menus that make this look like a 1990's Flash game, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to at…

It looks good in theory but fails in practice....You don't last very long when fighting....I found maybe 10 fights then I had to flee...How do we get more fuel?...You run out very quickly and I never found a way to get more...All I ever found was scrap....No useful gear, fuel, med kits, nothing...The UI is poor...It just should be a lot better than it is....usually I dont give games a negative review, especially if free, but this game needs a bunch of work.

Pretty good, though don't expect more than a few hours of gameplay out of this. Decent gameplay loop of taking your recruits down into some area, killing enemies, looting stuff, then going to a shop or another area, upgrading your recruits and guns with randomised stat upgrades, and working your way through connected stages. Controlling the recruits are part of the challenge. They only shoot or reload when standing still, some guns fire slowly so sometimes they just stand there while getting eaten by zombies, clicking on enemies just makes your recruits run head-first into them. So that takes some getting used to, but once you're used to it, it works fine. There are buttons to make your recruits stop moving and to slow down time, which are very helpful, though there's probably a lot of room for improvement. There are a fair number of guns, but one or two of them seem a lot better than others (and may be practically required), and a few of them are close to being just worse versions of other guns. If a recruit dies in a mission, they're permanently dead. For most of the game, you only have like 2-4 recruits, so losing any of them is quite the handicap. It's possible that it'd b…

it has great potential, but it is just too broken. I could easly open the console tab and do dev stuff in the game. needs a lot of fixes but still cool.

fun little game. I find myself coming back to play more rounds. Controls are a bit clunky but if you can get past it, it's a neat game
