[h1] Similar to 8-bit games this one uses 2 buttons only. One is for attack and second for locking direction so strafing to the sides is more easy thus avoiding danger. Generally speaking game is a bit unclear with its goals so you end up walking back and forth through same screens and fighting same enemies. Visuals are ok and make up for good looking NES game. It's just it doesn't offer much in terms of gameplay and overall enjoyment so most of the time you play it just to check it out and not actually to complete it. Play it or not play it - that's the main question here. [/h1]

The 8-bit aesthetic is awesome and nostalgic, but it's not very fun to play and the story is nonexistent. It's basically like playing a random game actually from that era, which is not so great.

Y'know what? I kinda dig this game. Y'know what else? This game takes about an hour to complete but somehow finds a way to overstay it's welcome. It starts off pretty strong as the player takes control of a samurai dressed like a 1930's cab driver, the controls are taught initially through wall scrolls hanging on the walls of the samurai's dojo themed apartment, as we venture forth to do battle with the suit and fedora attired enemy swordsmen the remaining tutorials are given to us through graffiti on the walls of the urban jungle. First the basic WASD movement, then instructions on how to block and attack, lastly we get the pseudo platforming that has player Naruto running on rooftops to bypass blocked sidewalks and access new areas. We immediately see the game's major selling point, the fusion of the film noir and martial arts film aesthetic. We unfortunately don't have to wait too long to start seeing the game's flaws. The block mechanic seems mostly pointless, at least on normal difficulty anyway. As much as I want to support Indie devs, I just don't know who I would recommend this to. The game just doesn't have anything inventive or even especially intuitive going on. You can see the contours of a greater vision here, but only that. This is clearly meant to be more of a proof of concept than a complete title, and to be fair, it is priced as such. But, it's too rough. Too unfinished. Too unrealized.

Enjoyable Pixel action game with a good play style. Enjoyable soundtrack that compliments the game. The Story helps you get through it with the help of NPC Characters. Good simple puzzle codes and spike traps. If you want to just use your fingers to play a game on Steam then this is the style and type of game for you. 10/10 Would dive off of a 60 foot diving board into dangerous chemicals filled with knives and swords and would punch my computer instead of out right destroying it.

If you thought this game was bad, try playing the sequel, Shin Samurai Jazz. It'll actually make you find this game fun in retrospect!
