About Scary Girl
In this side-scrolling action game, you play as Scarygirl – a girl who has been adopted by a giant intelligent octopus and is trying to figure out who the man haunting her dreams is. Traverse unique, extremely vibrant, colorful, and magical worlds in a seamless mix of 2D and 3D platforming action. You can go it alone in single-player mode or grab a friend and team up in co-op gameplay and fight alongside Bunniguru – the giant kung-fu rabbit. And as you advance, you’ll be able to purchase new weapons and new moves, and discover countless secrets along the way. It’s a mesmerizing fairytale, but the creepy-cute tough-as-nails Scarygirl is no damsel in distress!
Key features:
- Amazing Art and Design: Surreal landscape and creatures are beautifully fantastical, created by a critically-acclaimed, award-winning artist and true to the art style that Scarygirl fans have already fallen in love with
- A Curiously Wonderful Stand-Alone Chapter: The game features a new and exceptional storyline separate from the graphic novel and planned feature film, in which Scarygirl finally meets the mysterious man haunting her dreams
- New Moves, Weapons & Upgrades: The game’s upgrade and combat improvement system allows Scarygirl to grow beyond her basic attacks by purchasing new moves, like an the “Anaconda Squeeze” and “Morph Tendrils”, or attachments for her tentacle arm, such as the Rage Hook
- Co-Operative Play: While one player controls Scarygirl, a second can bring Bunniguru’s furious “Fists of Blurry” into the fray at any time. This offline feature allows the two characters to perform special moves together to overcome major challenges

Pros: keyboard is supported (I have not tested the game’s support for controllers), cute art style & characters, charming soundtrack & narration, subtitles are on by default, tutorial available in-game (& a “how to play” screen on the menu. Although some in-game prompts are for the controller not the keyboard), checkpoints / auto saves Cons: locked at 30 frames per second, no 1080p resolution, no borderless windowed mode (only a small resolution 1280 x 1024p windowed mode or fullscreen is available), mouse is not supported even on the menu, no manual save slots, no difficulty settings (just one difficulty), no controls customization, maximum health is pretty low for me, movement is clunky, some camera angles are clunky, platforming is hit or miss, bosses don’t have health bars such as the yeti monster (it’s difficult to tell if you are fighting the bosses correctly. I had to Youtube the solution), boss fights are hit or miss, instant death scenarios in later levels Overall, I have bought this game on sale & have spent 4 hours as of the writing of this review. A mix of 2D & 3D map elements, some gameplay decisions are hit or miss but overall a fun experience at a low price. I …2 found this helpful
Scary Girl is an extraordinary platformer that is worth playing if only for its unique artistic vision and atmospheric story. The game offers a vibrant fairy-tale world, interesting characters, and a pleasant mix of exploration, combat, and adventure. If you appreciate games with personality and a creative approach to style and design, Scary Girl will be a pleasant discovery for you.1 found this helpful
this game lit (not 100% true) love the franchise on discount it costs less than a candy bar just try it if youre interested got nothing to lose
Scarygirl is a visually bold and conceptually unusual platformer developed by TikGames and published by Square Enix, adapting the distinctive art and tone of Nathan Jurevicius’s graphic novel into an interactive experience. Rather than following typical fantasy or action-platformer formulas, the game embraces a dreamlike, offbeat world where whimsy and eeriness coexist. At the center of it all is Scarygirl herself—a young, patch-eyed heroine whose strange appearance and tentacle-arm make her both endearing and unsettling. Her journey begins when she is plagued by mysterious dreams and sets out to uncover their meaning, leaving behind her adoptive guardian, the giant octopus Blister. This brings her into contact with an eclectic cast of characters and bizarre environments that feel like fragments of a surreal storybook brought to life. The game’s greatest triumph lies in its visual design. Scarygirl’s world is crafted in a vibrant 2.5D style, using layered backgrounds, twisted landscapes, and imaginative creature designs to create a sense of being pulled through a beautifully illustrated dream. Forests, swamps, snowy villages, industrial zones, and mystical temples all carry the gr…
I recommend this game to a degree you wouldn't even comprehend. I had this game when it was on PS3 and by god, it was the best game I had back then and receiving this as a steam gift made me unimaginably happy. Unfortunately I do have a nostalgia bias to this game, so there's that, but just for what it is, it's a great game with jank that makes it charming in a way. 10/10 artstyle aswell.
